while I use a country living mill,

its still time consuming as compared to the electrics,

any gripes or complaints, or does anyone here even have one? :?

I own a brand new one as of 1 month ago. I am also brand new to this 'milling your own' stuff.

Here's what I know:

I paid standard price: $259 shipped

It has a variable speed.

It is very easy to retrieve the flour and after the 2nd time I make a very little mess.

It is still loud--but more like a slightly muffled jetliner.

My kids LOVE fresh milled, whole wheat pancakes w/ some choc. chips.

Is that the same/similar to what they used to call a "Whisper Mill"?

If so... I LOVE mine! I bought it in 1999, and probably have run at least a ton (yeah, 2000#) of wheat through it. I have a decent (not top of the line) hand mill, but I found it too time consuming (needing at least two grinds to get "flour"). With my Whisper Mill, I grind flour whenever I want to bake, and it makes fantastic, fine flour.

What it doesn't do is grind anything coarsely... you won't use it to make cereal, or "cracked wheat", and I suspect you would have trouble getting most field corn kernels to feed right.

Can't beat it for a flour mill, though... however, don't ever fill it with wheat kernels and THEN turn it on... you can clog it to the point where factory servicing is necessary!

I've got one, love it, and can't imagine a grinder working any better! It IS loud, but will grind any grain you need ground. Fine, course, and anywhere in between.

The Whispermill is no longer. They closed stores. The new, recommended electric mill is the Nutrimill.

Yes I have one and I must say I am very happy with it. It works very good. The only thing is when you turn it off it sounds like a jet engine winding down..... :)

The bread I make with the flour it grinds is super. Great product. I also have a hand grinder but I also found that it takes a lot of time to produce flour. I will use it if tshtf but as long as I have elec. I will use the Nutrill Mill.
