Anybody have any New Year's Resolutions related to prepping you'd like to share? On another thread SheWoff said she has lost 25 lbs and gotten off her insulin! I think that is a great investment in her future she has made.
So my Prepper To-Do List:
1. Tone and strengthen my body.
2. Become a very good markswoman...(DreadPirate, wanna be my instructor? )
3. Plan, Plant, Pamper, and Preserve Perfect Pumpkins (and other wonderful veggies!)
4. STOP EATING SO MUCH REFINED SUGAR for goodness sake!!
5. Feast on the true Word of God with veracity...fervently teach my children to "rightly divide" the word of truth so that we all will be spiritually prepped.
Those are the main ones and not in any particular order.
Please share. 8)

Buttercup, that sounds like an excellent list! The children I'm teaching God's Word to are in my Good News Club at a public school, so I only have them one hour a week, but thank the Lord for that one hour (most of them don't go to church, so it's all the exposure to the Bible that they have).
My list also includes learning to make bows and arrows from scratch. There are several other things I'd like to do, but I want to focus on that one this year.

Good for you! God bless you for doing that. You are their lifeline to the only truth there is.

COOL!

Thanks Buttercup! I'm still plugging away at it though and will keep right on with it.
Here's the rest of my list:
1. More Bible study and prayer.
2. Practice shooting. DH the gunsmith says I'm a natural shot, but I still think ya need to keep at it. And he's so trusting, he's the one teaching me! :)
3. Increase the garden. Originally we were going to have very little and let most lay fallow this year. But DH has a burr under his saddle about the rising cost of food. So we decided we had better not only plant the entire garden, but increase it in size a bit (again this year!).
4. Learn new skills. And I mean "primitive" type skills. I want to start with learning how to plant and such by the "signs". We have a good friend that is willing to teach us this. He can tell you when you can get the best sleep, the best planting done, and just about anything else by the signs. I doubted this stuff really bad. So last year, before planting the garden, I asked him about some different stuff, like when to plant the potatoes. We planted some when he told us to and some when we thought they should be planted. His were way better than ours! Same area of the garden, same conditions and all that. I was suprised, so now I want to learn this stuff!

New years...preps
we will be planting hybrids for the first time, learn how to get the seeds from them and building an outdoor style greenhouse...
Our sabbath will be on Saturday now, instead of Sunday, it will be a day to tech the children the Word, and we have got Bible Trivia and Bibelopoly the kids love to play..they even have a gameboy Bible game..doing more Bible studies to learn the true word of the Lord(not the stuff the churches are passing off as religion today)
convert my singer electric machine into one that does not require power
I would like to learn how to use my brand new pressure cooker/canner...
DH will be building a few more hiding spots for preps
and the prep ones we are still waiting on for directions from the Lord;
to buy a few acres of land with a lake front not far from us, and possibly selling the house and going to live on it..but would require extra work if there where no structures on the land..we are still looking and praying on this one....
buying another canoe(we already have a 17 foot coleman)..and we would have to buy a trailer to haul both of them around...or possibly get a boat and motor and trailer
and prep as much as possible, while we are still able...I lost a lot of time last year waiting for major sugery and then the recovery time..so I have alot I need to get done...
if I think of more I will be back to post again...

Thanks for posting this thread. I've been coasting through life for several months now and need to get back on track. I hadn't given thought to future plans for quite some time because at the moment we aren't truly settled, but it's time.
So, for starters...
1. Regain my relationship with the Lord, with whom I feel somewhat estranged and regain my inner strength, which I think goes hand-in-hand.
2. Reach my weight goal. I've lost more than 50 pounds this past year and am well on my way to a healthier life.
3. Establish regular medical and dental appointments to maintain health.
4. Re-establish our family unit. Find a home for my family and get my preps out of storage. Restock prep inventory I gave away last spring because of storage issues.
5. Finish some UFOs...denim comforters, afghans, and quilts.
6. Find ways to garden in small spaces since we'll be living in town.
7. Learn a new skill, maybe knitting and soapmaking. Expand present skills by learning new crochet stitches, trying new pressure canning recipes, and anything else that will be useful in the future.
8. Use the food dehydrator!
I'm sure I can come up with more given the time. I've lots of work to get my preps where I need them to be, but I'm working on myself first. All the preps in the world won't help me if I'm not fit or at mentally prepared.

You guys are inspiring me so much...thanks for the ideas and motivation.
kelee877, I like the idea of building hiding places for preps...we have a good set-up here for doing that...(added to my list now  )
Sassafras, I have gotten sort of apathetic lately too. I just love new beginnings...second chances...don't you?

sounds good to me Sas, but I need to make a much bigger garden, thinking along the lines of about an acre and a half. and get alot dried, and stored. and canned.
and start on this weight thing, for sure.

Ok...so since the 1st I have...
1. Pulled my hand weights out of storage and started back on my strength training routine...lean and mean that's my goal!!
2. Cut out desserts...so I've probably cut out 90% of my refined sugar intake...I'm already feeling less lethargic too.
3. Gotten back into daily Bible study with my kids...had sort of gotten side-tracked this past summer with all the home improvements/ prepping we were doing.
Still need to get started on garden preparations and target practice. 8)
ETA: We are going to try to do mostly raised beds this year in the garden...and has anyone ever used lasagna gardening technique? (Maybe a good gardener on the forum has some ideas to share...maybe on a new thread?)

For those who want to do a small garden, but use heirloom seeds--I noticed that Lowes and Home Depot have both organic and heirloom varieties out.
~ $1.75-2.25 per
