We just purchased 7 pails of different types of wheat from Emergency
Essentials. Can they be stored in the garage? It does freeze there in the winter, being from the Northwest corner of CT. My husband says we can
because wheat is stored in silos in the midwest. I want to be sure.
Can you help with this question? Thanks in advance

Is your concern temp? Make sure that varmints-bugs and mice-can't get into it. (Yes, I know I'm not MOM, nor do I play her on TV  )
I used to live in FL and I stored wheat berries there in 5-gal buckets, in a spare room. After freezing for bugkill, of course.

Southwind, thank you for responding. I don't have room in my freezer for 1 6 gallon bucket, and I have 7 of them to store. I'm sure they had to freeze to some degree as it took 15 days to get here by Fedex. They are sealed in mylar bags with ox. absorbers. If possible I prefer not to open all 7 until I need to grind and bake with them. I prefer the garage or
attic for storage in the dead of the winter due to space issues. We do not have a basement.

Thanks to both of you. Wish me luck the first time I start to grind the berries.

Really? All I have ever done is sprout them. I'll have to try grinding them for flour.
