From Steve's site, too much to cut and paste.

None of the images are showing up on that page.

Thanks. That could be very useful information.
Kathleen (who had wondered a few times why I ended up with so many space blankets in my preps!)

This old computer of mine doesn't like to 'surf' very much. Could you maybe cut and past a few of the better ideas over here? TIA.

To reduce radar signature, mix magnetic tape from audio or video cassette sources with fabric or carpenter's glue and brush liberally into your wool blanket. Wear the blanket with the magnetic tape on the inside of the blanket and over the space blanket, as before. Do not wet the blanket with the magnetic tape/glue mixture. That could tend to rapidly degrade the magnetic tape content.
To elude thermal imaging devices at night and in cooler weather, obtain a metalized "space" blanket and a wool blanket. Form a hood with the space blanket over your head and allow the rest of the material to drop over your back. Wrap the rest of the space blanket around to your front forming a poncho. Make certain the space blanket fits over your slung rifle and gear. Also make certain that a slit is formed in the front of your space blanket poncho to allow you to thrust your arms through for work or for firing your rifle.
I think this will give ya the idea. Not bad. A couple of space blankets, duct tape, old VHS tapes, glue and a old wool blanket. Sounds like McGyver and you know he always got out.

Dread, I'm really a dummy on these things. Could you explain how that works? TIA.

Well Cap I just copyied and pasted from the source.
But if I get the jist of it, the space blanket will keep your heat in instead of radiating out and the wet wool blanket is an added layer of cooling to disipate any heat signiture that might be left over. As far as the strips of old VHS or casset tapes I am guessing that the iron filings that are inbeded in the tape will help to scatter any radar signals so as not to return them back to the dish.
I think that when it gets down to it keep a low profile and stay as far as you can from the bad guys as you can.
It might be a good idea to try (if only I had night vision gogles).
Maybe close up the seams with duct tape or even speed tape(its use like duct tape only its made from AL. and has a good adhesive(enough to withstand 500 mph on the side of a plane).
If I can think of anything else I'll post for ya.
Oh and by the way I love your posts here and at the other place. Nice spear heads and knives. I have a friend that used to do smithing and have had a chance to play with a forge. That was fun. 8)

Dreadpirate, it makes sense that the magnetic strips of cassette and VHS tape would scatter the radar signals. My ex husband was an AF radar operator for ten years, including an anti-jamming and anti-anti-jamming operator, and it sounds like stuff the pilots use to create clouds of chaff to throw the radar off. I never thought of using the tapes for that purpose, though.

Ok, thanks. I get it now.
What I got from a discussion a good while back(over there) was that I couldn't hide from all that techy stuff. So, what I decided to do was stand out and out, and out. Make a wheeled frame to pull behind me that is covered with something that radiates about the same 'signature' as I would. This frame would have a decidedly animal shape...the shoulders-to-rump part. I'd be the front legs, and head and neck part. See where I'm going here? If their electronics tell them I'm an animal, I don't have to 'hole up'. I can keep moving and hopefully leave their area of concern faster.
Would that work, though?

Unless thay ran out of MREs.
I'm sorry that was the first thing that came to mind. Although you maybe on to somthing. Very good idea 8)
Well iguess one could try it and find a friendt cop that wanted to have some fun with his radar gun.......you know that anit a bad idea. Maybe get him to paint you while running. I think the threashold is lik 3-5 mph before they register. Would give a new meaning to "getting wrapped up in an old movie". 8)

from conversations, with people who have ran the stuff ,and looking through devices in industrial settings ,and watching youtube videos of flir images, that backs up the conversations, this stuff works down to a 1/10 of a degree variation
I seriously doubt you will be missed with the current thermal stuff if you happen on to thier image screen, :?
