Our season here in Ky opens 4/12 with a youth hunt 4/5-6. Lucky for me I have some youths!

I got the fever real bad this year. Went on a walk around a field this morning and they were getting at it big time! Gobbles everywhere!!! I had a box call and started laying down some pillow talk and sure enough here they came. Beards dragging, plume spread, gobbleing and strutting! I'm still pumped up from it.

Am I the only one here at ToL inflicted with this fever?

naaaah, your not the only one. DH is salivating at the thought of turkey season out here. he usually gets 2 here in nm, goes to visit some friends in kansas or nebraska for another and then oklahoma too. hunting is his life (professional elk guide) and he sure loves turkey season.

with gas being the way it is now, he decided to not hit the other states this year and hunting shows have been on TV constantly here..lol.

he breasts his out and smokes them, what do you do with yours?

I have to go today and see if there still where I left them during deer season. The son of a guns scared the crap out of the kids when they started to come out of roost right on top of us. Ya Johnny there are a few west of LBL.

I do the same. I have a brown sugar, garlic, paprika rub that I use and then slow smoke till delicious.

I walked up on what seemed like 100 birds yesterday! I thought those birds have never been shot at or are looking for love and don't care.

DreadPirate-- when we first moved to Ky we lived in Cadiz and LBL was a favorite hangout.

I need to get out. no time. my oldest son is coming next week, maybe I can talk him into going out bad, and getting a few. we could have them dressed out , and in the freezer in no time.

Anyone who turkey hunts, I'd love to trade some fishing flies for feathers... tail, wing, breast feathers from Turkeys are very useful...

I lived in central NY from 1992 through 1998, and got seriously addicted. Each weekend was like living through jetlag.

Get up a couple hours before dawn, and yak at birds for a few hours. Eventually drove me to distraction.;)

I'm told now that I have your bird stats I should just go out and shoot a bigger one when the season opens here Johnny! I don't think they grow that big around here though LOL Too many bobcats.

I started reading this thread and you beat me to it. I saw two on the side of the road going home yesterday. I little yank on the wheel and I could have had 'em.
