Sauerkraut Throwup

I know this sounds horrible but is really easy to make but does look rather awful...Take 1 qt sauerkraut and mix in 1 quart of tomato sauce and put in crock pot. Brown hamburger (I use sauage) drain off grease and add to the pot. Simmer all day. About half hr before eating add either noodles or precooked cubed spuds( I prefer the spuds). Easy and very good.

Does this soup have a lot of acid to it or does the simmering all day take that away? I know that saurkraut will only keep in canning jars about 2 yrs before eating through the sealer lids. Just curious. the recipe will get tried when this year's kraut is ready.

Recently a friend of mine was attempting to try a new recipe on her family using her food storage items. The teen daughter walked in, took a look and asked, "Why can't we just eat our own vomit?" Made me laugh, but felt sorry for my friend who is really trying.

My mother in law makes saurkraut with pork roast in it, mashed potatoes, homemade nifflies (egg noodles).
They make a plate, lay a volcano like mound of potatoes, fill it with meat, noodles and kraut, they mush it al together and then throw a bunch of kraut juice on it till its all floaty.
It took me 25 years to learn to like it, and I love it now.
But now I'm diabetic and CANT EAT IT (just meat and lil Kraut), cry....
