My farm is growing:) I now have 8 goats
1)Penelope - Nubian
2)Rahab - Nubian
3)Chico - Nubian
4)Dottie - Boer/Alpine
5)Fiona - Boer/Alpine/Fainting
6)Stella - Nubian/Boer
7)Ella - Nubian/Boer
8) no name little boer billy that I will butcher very soon
AND NOW I HAVE A GHEEP!!! Her name is Cleopatra. When I went to pick up the little no name billy I saw this really beautiful goat... she was solid white and she had such feminine facial features.... I told the owners that she was the most beautiful goat I'd ever seen... when I got home I had a message on my phone that I could have her.... I couldn't fathom them giving me this beautiful goat as I had just paid 40$ for a not so beautiful goat... well yes, they did just give her to me because she was 1/2 sheep and 1/2 goat... they said the herd was mean to her because she was smaller.... Well my goats love her... and I LOVE HER!!! SHe has a great personality! She is year and a half old... I really hope she comes into heat and gets pregnant... I've been told sometimes gheeps are sterile... I hope that is not the case with Cleopatra...

Color me jealous! I'm wanting to get goats but DH is balking at the cost for purebreds.

Not that I blame him... but I want goats! I really like Oberhaslis and Nigerian Dwarfs.

*Sigh* Maybe next year...

But, they pay for themselves in just a few months. I paid $225 for Penelope and I got her two kids free (Rahab and Chico). Penelope is my only goat with milk right now. All the others except for Rahab will be bred with Chico the next few months. I sell 4 gallons of milk a week at 7$ a gallon. So Penelope has already paid for herself, the others and all the feed I've bought. I think I've had her 5 or 6 months. Stella and Ella were given to me.... Dottie and Fiona were 50$ and 60$. So It doesn't have to be expensive... Penelope, Rahab and Chico are my only registered goats that isn't really important to me, I just want fresh milk!!!!! Good luck, I will pray God sends you some free goats! 8)
