I have really thought seriously about this before.

Another option are those little scooters that seat and handlebars fold down. I think they are like 30 CC two-strokes. If you had a safe way to keep a gallon of gas I think you could get home if EMP wiped out your on-board computer or if there was an earthquake that collapsed bridges and what not.

Some will cruise at about 20-30 MPH. I live about 45 miles from where I work. That would nice to be able to get home in a little over an hour.

Plus If you kept it in a trunk or pickup truck tool box I don't think there would be enough EMP to damage anything plus I don't think there are really any electronics other than the magneto and run switch.

Maybe something like this.

Or this one for 330 bucks.

eh. My wife thought a folding bike would be a great idea. She ended up getting a "cheap" one that weighs a ton. Worthless, just taking up space in the garage, nobody rides a bike anymore.

The lesson needs to be learned over and over. Don't skimp on your tools. If you can't afford the good ones, you don't really need them. If you really need them, you can't afford to buy cheap ones.
