On stove top start the filling:
Meat of choice (shredded beef, grd beef, chicken, game meat)
chopped onion
chopped celery
chopped cabbage ( I have used sprouts too)
season as desired (garlic, salt, pepper, herbs, soy sauce )
Set to simmer while you make your favorite bread dough recipe.
After the dough has risen once punch down and grab a 2-3" ball of dough and flatten in your hand until it is about 1/4" thick (should be about 4-5" in diameter). Place a large spoon full of warm filling in the center of dough and bring edges up to overlap (should be about the size of a hamburger bun when all done. Turn that over onto a greased baking sheet so the 'pretty side ' is up. continue making until all the filling and dough are used. Bake according to the directions for your bread dough until a nice golden brown. Each individual roll is a complete meal (meat, veggies and bread). Peasants in the old countries used to take these to the fields for their lunch breaks. they would wrap them in a cloth and put them in their pockets.
