View Full Version : Pigeons in the Chicken Coop

We've lived here 10 years and didn't see pigeons around town until a couple years ago. Now we have a half a dozen that have moved into the coop.

They leave when we go out to feed and collect eggs and then return later.

We want them to go away. I've heard that those plastic owls don't really work.

Our coop was our old pole barn and when the Mrs. Got chickens a few years back we put in a floor, siding and nest boxes.

Then we added on when we got the Peacocks. Then added on again for the extra rooster.

All the coops have doors, just framed with 1x2's and covered with chicke wire and they are left open.

My question is if I redesign the doors with an opening big enough for a chicken to walk through and then close them will the pigeons figure out all they need to do is land outside the coop and then walk in like the chickens do?

Sorry for this long winded post.

Don't get rid of them!

Build nest boxes so they'll raise young.

emmmmmmm! squab!

/recipes all over the net.
