Mods, move this at your discretion.

Sometimes when you're alone, all you got is your dog and they meant the world to me.
--Mickey Rourke, during his acceptance speech for Best Actor at the Golden Globes.

She’s like a giant Xanax, you know? I’m not going to get religious on your arse, but I truly believe God created dogs for a cause. They are the greatest companions a man could ever have.

Comments from fans of his new movie, The Wrestler

Mike: I too have been a long tme Mickey Rourke fan. Great to see him back working amongst the elitest Hollywood butts, maybe he can teach them a thing or two. I see Mickey cast as an aging RockStar dude as well. He has the look and the moxy to kick Axl Rose's butt any day. Cheers to you, Mickey!

Mike: My miniature Dachshund, Dina, brought me back from the abyss. She and her partner, Harley, are my constant companions. After getting love from my dogs, it's hard to swallow what some people try to pass off for affection. Good for you, Mr. Rourke. I was wondering what you were up too...

Liza Heider: I think it's great that Mickey Rourke is making a comeback. He's been through a lot and was down on his luck for many years. It takes a lot of courage and strength to get back into the game after nearly 15 years of being a screw up. Rourke is a talented man; he just made some bad decisions. I also think it's wonderful how much he loves his dogs and that he can be so candid and honest about his affection towards them--as well as how lonely he has been in Hollywood for so many years--that his dogs provide me so much companionship and love, is wonderful.

biggertom: WTG Mick! These dogs are the only unconditional thing on earth. He showed some kind of heart to remember his dogs. I am proud to say I am a fan.

Here's the deal on dogs. For the ultimate in protection, you get yourself a Chihuahua, and bring him up with a larger breed that is know for their courage. The Chihuahua is the ultimate watchdog. No sound gets by those little guys. When the Chihuahua begins barking, the big guys does the same. Problem solved.

Our Chihuahua hears everything that moves, he has the biggest radar ears you ever saw. Lady thinks everything on the property is hers and she watches over it accordingly:

First of all, what the hell happened to Mickey Rourke?

Secondly, thanks for the info on your dog, firebird. I was going to ask what kind it was. My husband picked up a stray 6 years ago or so (it was cold and he couldn't resist her). She looks like a beagle/(something) mix. He thought maybe pit bull, but we weren't sure. When I saw your dog's head I knew. Brandy's head looks just like that! Thanks again!

A decade ago I had a friend who's Dad lived in retirement down in Costa Rica. His report was all the well to do in Costa Rica had Chihuahua's as gaurd dogs at their homes. Seems the locals would heave poison over the house walls into the patios, and had poisened off the GSD's that were the house guards. The Chihuahuas gave enough of a snarly attack to thwart thieves, while owner blastred the shot gun in the air.

First off, I must tell you....I own four Chihuahua's and a black lab. The lab loves the Chihuahuas, but on the other hand she hates strangers. The perfect combo.

She is a great dog and very intelligent. She is 80 lbs of muscle but is a mushball to those she loves.
