MUNCIE, Ind. — A 26-year-old man and his father were arrested by an off-duty Muncie police officer after the man cut in line at a Wal-Mart store.

Police reports say 26-year-old Edward R. Pluhar Jr. of Frankfort cut to the front of the line at the Wal-Mart service desk Sunday.
What he didn’t know was that Officer Chris Kirby was waiting in the line.
Kirby says Pluhar refused when asked to wait his turn. Pluhar’s father, 61-year-old Edward R. Pluhar Sr., then asked Kirby if he wanted to step outside.
That’s when Kirby told the men he was a police officer.
Kirby followed the men into the parking lot where they scuffled. Other officers arrived and arrested both Pluhars.
They were released after posting bond. The Associated Press left a message at a listing for Pluhar in Frankfort seeking comment.

civilian cuts in line

officer get mad because civilian cut in front of him

officer is challenged

officer willingly goes outside to fight civilian

officer fights civilian

officer calls buddies

civilian get arrested, officer goes free

Bum shouldn't have cut in line, that's number one.

I'll second that.. if he can't wait in line at Wal-Mart, I don't want to run into him in a bread line.

I agree wholly. However, I question the judgement of this "Peace Officer" which we now call "Law Enforcement Officer". When the men left for the parking lot, they were out of line and that should have been well enough. But this officer, knowing and willing, followed for a physical confrontation. He should have been arrested too. IMO

This is how I handle folks like that! I say yes..you can cut in line, but...you need to ask everybody behind me first! The looks of the folks behind me usually take care of that! LOL

That's the way it sounds to me too.

At least he wasn't cuffed, thrown on his stomach, a cop put a knee on his neck while another shoots him in the back. I mean, THAT would be out of line...wait....nevermind.

Agreed! After all isn't that what the courts are for? What I have found is in the past five years or so people seem to have lost all sense of decorum (sp?) Everyone wants everything RIGHT NOW and since they area all special this creates even bigger problems. The guy cutting in line was rude and a world class small burrow.

The cop should have just let it go at that and chalked it up to stupid humanity, OR do what I do and that's photograph/video tape you with my cell phone camera and then post it to my blog etc., for the entire world to see that you are in fact a world class small burrow!

Seems that the only thing that works with most folks these days is public humuliation. As a cop I wouldn't want anyone video taping me starting a fight with a civilian and thus causing the loss of my job - I hear they are cutting LEO's here locally in my area.

That is a good one, make sure to talk loud enough so that everyone at the next five checkers can hear you.

On the flip side dh and I were in the local Fareway this fall and someone got po'd because they thought I was cutting in line, dh was unloading the cart onto the checker counter and sent me back for something while we waited on the customer in front of us. The woman behind my husband got po'd because she thought I was cutting in line and was trying to physcially stop me from going ahead even after telling her several times that I was "with him". So I just yelled at dh that I'd have to wait until evenyone else was done in order to give him the groceries so we could pay and leave.

The female small burrow calling me filthy names under her breath and giving me filthy looks turned about ten shades of red and apologized. Not everything is as it seems.

O.T. time here, but I feel it has to be said....

A few years ago, I would have agreed whole-heartedly with the above....
But because of my job I have spent the past two years around "LEO's".
I would have gone along with the above, but even this morning something happened where one could not explain his actions to the others.
And I have heard more about where they are actually on OUR side, as opposed to the other way around.
I cannot go into any more than that.
Oh, and believe it or not? I was actually SHOCKED to learn that they refer to us, in my locale at least, as "CITIZENS" as opposed to "CIVILIANS".
