Spent a very full day working on my callouses today.

Got the garden rabbit fence completed.

Raked the entire thing (This is a new garden, lots of grass to rake out.)

Started to get my rows in order(One or two anyway, gonna have to pick through them to get any grass remnants out).

Watched my dogs watching me work.

Pretty nice weather today, 75 degrees. Monday it looked like this:

Cut the lawn for the first time this year today as well and run the weed-eater.

LOL, I just put DH in timeout and he is banned from ever driving my 4-Runner. Every single time he takes it to work it gets hit by someone on golf carts. The country club just had to buy me a new bumper when their refreshment gal crashed into the passenger side on her golf cart and this evening someone hit it (and ran) on the drivers side. Arghhhhh!

Sooooooooo, why he's punished? Looks like he's been very productive today. I could only dream of DH tilling let alone raking.

haha, he's in the TOL punishment corner, not the one at home. from what i gather, he was a little under-sensative on one of the threads. ;-)

Me, insensitive?....never!

okay, I can be a clod from time to time, I admit it, I'm human. I meant no harm:mrgreen:

I'm guessing a goof was made as my I.P. is unbanned today and that message about a 7 day ban is gone.

Gonna get the rest of those rows made today, let's get dirty!

Is it un-PC to say I'm going to spend some quality time with my Hoe today?

SK hope that rabbit fence works for you. We found ours works better if the rabbits can't get their nose under the bottom. Where the nose goes the rest of the little furry body follows. Just an observation.

What I did was to take all the raked soil and grass clumps and pile it up against the inside edge of the fence. As it grows, it will produce a natural barrier.

So I finally got my butt outside to finish the garden prep today, I felt bad yesterday and didn't get anything done(sue me, I've been really sick lately and still don't feel particularly great). Got the rest of the rows done, took the 4-wheeler out and loaded all the rocks I removed in the basket to be used to fill dog-dug holes in the backyard dog run. You can see the hoe I've been spending time with leaning on the 4-wheeler (patticakes says this is better be the ONLY hoe I spend my days with!) Spread a little extra lime in there in some of the red clay spots as well the other day.

So now I can relax a little until we plant in April, just keeping any grass from getting a hold will be the extent of the garden work for a bit.

SK your garden looks great and looks like a lot of work. But what I really enjoyed was the doggies. I know want to go home and play with my two. Well the Shepherd will play. The fat terrier who huff and puff and want to go in the house. Hope I can get my garden laid out that well. That and keep the Shepherd from eating all the veggies as she loves veggies. Keeping her out of the compost pile has been a challenge.

Our Labrador is fascinated by the compost pile as well.

we're hoping the 3-dog rabbit detector will go off before their little noses reach the fence. the yellow lab, Katie, i'm sure wouldn't know what to do with a rabbot if she ever caught one...but she'd give it a good run for our money. ;-)

Scotty;

You've been working very hard and it shows. One thing that concerns me is the width of your foot/walking paths between rows. Plants such as tomato, okra, bell peppers and such will spill over completely blocking your paths if there isn't enough room. It might just be the angle of the picture but I thought I'd voice my concern now instead of after your planting scheduled for next month. Keep up the great work and baby some seeds indoors in preparation for your planting next month.

I think we have enough room between rows, we figured 9 rows for the space we alloted , and ended up with exactly 9 rows. I very aggressively sucker and tie the tomatoes, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm staying away from Okra...man, that stuff can get away from you in a hurry!

we have 4 pea plants sprouting up in the garden now!! yea!!! we put peas, lettuce and spinach in 2 Saturdays ago (9 days). i'm so excited! the lettuce and spincach is on the lower side of the garden and with all the rain we've just had, i'm starting to think that we should have planted rice. haha! luckily, the rows are high enough to not be submursed. keep your fingers crossed.

the tomato, pepper and onion seedlings are exploding in the kitchen. i've already had to re-plant the onions into a deeper bed. some of the tops are over 4 inches already.

this is SO much fun!!
