Being a bit south of you, we got a bit of a head start on the veggie seeds. But I set out my cole babies in the sun for the first time today; they're getting way too leggy and I needed the lamp space for the peppers that are coming up. My veggie stuff is coming up well, but the herbs....not so much. VERY few coming up.
OH, for a green house!

Snow is melting here..and it has been really nice weather the past couple of days...
My indoor greenhouse has been set for 2 weeks now...hopefully I will get around to planting this week...dang flu bug I have been sick all this week with it, and now one the kids is coming down with it.....
Limner check out wally world for a plastic indoor greenhouse(these can go outside also, mine goes on my patio after May 24 weekend)...I got mine at our local zellers and I got the smaller one and the tomatoe greenhouse at Canadian Tire...right here in town..ya goomerville carries them...
I waited until the end of the season and got them half price...I have my eye on one in the zellers store it is one sale right now, but I want to get it cheaper...

It's supposed to be 67 degrees here in Maryland today.
I put some seeds in the ground yesterday" chard, spinach, lettuce and snow peas. All are supposed to be okay with a light frost. But still enough time that if there's a "crop failure" I can resow.
I bought some rhubarb off of Ebay a couple of years ago. It's very prolific, but I think it's some variety for a very cold climate. I've had it going to seed by the end of April. The other thing is, most of the stalk is green. It tastes fine but I can't handle a green rhubarb pie, so I usually make strawberry rhubarb! For jam, I've been throwing a package of strawberry jello in with the rhubarb instead of surejell. I've got to get a lot of red variety to cook along with and "dye" that green rhubarb!

i think I'll start the seeds bext week. I was going to try some cool weather crops like spinach and peas, but we are supposed to get storms all weekend and the garden is still pretty muddy. I did get my sweet potaotes started. I have onion sets ready to go and seed potatoes. I CAN"T WAIT TO PLAY IN THE DIRT AGAIN!!

I need to start the rest of my seeds tomorrow. Pepper plants are on the top of my list and then my annual flowers  I have lots of pots to fill in order to make my front porch look real pretty!!! Still haven't found any dusty miller or petunia seeds though.
All the rest of my seeds will go directly into the ground in a few short weeks starting with peas!

Ground is tilled and planted the potato's, onions, garlic, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, waiting for the basil seeds to sprout. water cress, haven't done the tomatoes seeds yet. We are usually due to a snow yet one more time this month or next. We are at 5,000. feet up. If it does have those styrofoam pots to keep them well from frost. Oh by the way, I'm a first time grandma to 5 little chickies. They are so cute. Heat lamp is on for momma and her chicks. Its the first time for me and chickens playing it day by day. Boy does that rooster have a mean streak. Got to carry a little childs rake around me to protect the back of my legs. I don't turn my back on him at all. He is certainly protective of his girls. My herbal perenials are up and going. We are fixing up another part to garden that will have cantilope, squash, zucc., watermelon all the ones that spread out everywear. Watch the sun it is burning. Wear hat and sunglasses.!!!

Do you have a greenhouse or just starting them in your home. (I doubt you have anything planted outside in Michigan yet).

I wish I had to room to do that right now. I need to pick some brains on using a greenhouse to start things. I would like to set up an inexpensive one to start things early here.

Got all the equipment out to start seeds but one better.....
replaced the fluorescent lights in my kitchen with full spectrum grow lights...for plants/aquariums.
I have already bought some seedling tomato plants and had them in the house but because it snowed today and winter has returned to our area they began to look droopy.
After I installed the grow lights I water all the seedling plants and set them on the kitchen counter.............
they are now reaching their little leaves up toward the lights. :-D
I am going to replace all the light bulbs with grow lights if I can find round light bulb type lights for the lamps.
I used to have two full spectrum light bulbs that fit lamps but broke one in my travels. They were quite pricey though.
So...........now I am on a mission to find grow light "bulbs".
In my neighborhood I would most likely be wasting my time try
to plant on my porch as the little hoodlums on the block would just destroy them for me so I decided to get grow lights and experiment with growing inside.
Wish me luck.

You're way ahead of me 2DB. I just planted tomatoes, artichokes and peppers under the gro-lights today. I did manage to plant onions last weekend.
Hope I'm not too late for the peas. It's so cold and rainy today, I tend to think I'll be OK.

Yeah, Them peas love this kind of weather. Mine are about inch tall.
If I can just keep the bunnies out of them for a couple more weeks,
I may get a few.
Happy Growing
