I grew tired of hopping all of the fences so I had dh till up what little bit of side yard we had left and turned the entire east side yard into garden! He's planning on building an octagon shaped raised bed to go around the crab apple tree, in hte middle of the garden of course, under which I will plant currants and gooseberries.

The enlarged space is about 45 feet long, more or less, and at it's widest point about 12 feet across and at the narrowist about 5 feet across.

Dh was a bit resistant at first but in the long run this will work much better for me! The rabbits can no longer get to my grape vines, and I will have extra space for kale, greens, leeks and the like that I didn't have before! Lots of hard work well worth the effort and pulling weeds is a major stress reliever!

I use to live in Iowa for a few years and remember the rabbits. I have seen 1 rabbit in 11 years in Idaho. I loved the pictures. I have been looking at my packets of seeds and trying to figure where to plant everything.

I can post pics of rabbits I'll take my camera out with me early in the am, to let the dog do her thing, and take some pics! At any given time there are anywhere from one to thirty rabbits in our yard! And this doesn't include 7 stripe and 13 stripe chipmunks! I'm very pleased to say that the gopher stays at the neighbors place

Looks good! I hope you are blessed with an over-abundance of everything this year for your hard work! :-D will you post some pics as the season goes along? I love seeing how others are doing on their gardens too.

All mating of course  My concern is about rabbit fever, there was a bad round of it in the Omaha/Lincoln area about four years ago and I know of at least one person in central Iowa who had also contracted it.

I've been told that rabbit fever is more of a problem later in the summer, at least in Alaska where I grew up. So maybe you could set some live traps and have rabbit for dinner? (Handle the carcasses with care, of course, with rubber gloves.)

Back in 94 My EX (not X then) decided that we need to move to town. We moved to a nice suburban house with a privacy fence in the back yard. He was gone right before Good Friday for a week so I rented a tiller nd tilled the back yard from fence to fence 150X75 ft made a very productive garden. Ran out of room for the onions so I planted them on both sides of the front sidewalk. Figured my neighbors couldn't tell them from new daffodils.:-D
