Sorry, I can't! May I suggest *starting* by trying to call the nursery where you bought the rootstock?

If the only people you can get ahold of are clueless (contracted out their telephone service, maybe), then I'd try Co-operative Extension.

It wouldn't surprise me if you could tell by smell, if not by the color and texture of the bark... but although I suspect the plum rootstock may be more reddish, I just haven't done any grafting on prunus... only a few apples.

If they have any twigs on them, the plum bark should look more rough, while the apple bark will be smooth.

will look closer at the bark. Since I mixed them up at a workshop that was attended by our agent, dont think that will work :) - I did email Lawyers nursery (excellent, btw) and hopefully will get a response. Hubby grafted over 20 trees and they are planted, hoping they were on the right rootstocks! Thanks!

:-D
Tell hubby that he's abouut to be the new pappa daddy to a bunch
of plapple berry trees. That should get him all excited.

The bark on ALL my apples here is smooooth. The bark on my cherry
and plum trees have hORIZ erruptions , at reg intervals, at 90 deg
to the growth of the stem or limb.

Hope this helps, and you dont hafta redo your grafting !
