This morning I said I wasn't too worried yet...as of right now, I'm worried. From Mexico to Texas I can understand. But, N.Y., Montreal and now Kansas? No, no, I'm not liking this at all.

Are these two people...

...walking sick?
...in bed sick?
...in hospital sick?
...in a coffin sick?

That's what really matters. My bet is 1 or 2, no more.
The flu itself doesn't seem to be a killer, it's that subsequent respiratory ailment that affected the Mexicans that is knocking them off. Doesn't seem like it gets to that point in any US infections.

Hey! Look over there at that flu! Pay no attention to the economy that's in the crapper!

So far, it's nothing but a pandemic of fear spread by the Communist News Network.

Two Confirmed Cases of Swine Flu in Kansas
Posted: 3:27 PM Apr 25, 2009
Last Updated: 4:31 PM Apr 25, 2009The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) announced today that two cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Kansas involving two adults residing in the same household in Dickinson County. Neither of the patients was hospitalized – one is still ill and being treated, and one is recovering.
One of the patients had recently traveled to Mexico, flying in and out of Wichita. Both persons work in Saline County and became ill with the same unique (H1N1) strain of swine flu that has been identified in Mexico, California and Texas.
“It’s not yet known whether this will become the next flu pandemic,” stated Dr. Jason Eberhart-Phillips, State Health Officer and Director of the KDHE Division of Health. “We are working closely with health agencies at all levels and are continuing to monitor these cases. We are taking this situation very seriously.”
KDHE and the Dickinson County Health Department are investigating the sources of exposure, and efforts are being coordinated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Individuals who have been in contact with the patients are being interviewed and tested. Local health departments and hospitals in Kansas are being continuously updated and provided with information about the swine flu virus.
In accordance with the Kansas Response Plan, KDHE is also monitoring and instituting recommendations from CDC for any additional influenza disease surveillance activities, reviewing plans to further enhance those activities, and advising health care providers to use rapid detection tests for persons who have symptoms consistent with swine flu, especially if they have recently been in Mexico, and taking other steps under the plan.

I wonder if we could somehow consolidate all swine flu threads and pin.

On a side note, wonder what the markets will do Monday. And all this time, if only we'd known, we were waiting for a "Black Swine" event...

Hope that's some help.

The link is to a well run site that seems to keep a pretty good up to the minute discussion of issues/cases.

Except I think it has more to do with taking the heat off the story about Bernanke and Paulson threatening Ken Lewis.

Something stinks here folks. No I do not mean our politicians, could be wrong here but how have they confirmed that this is the same strain?

From previous posts it takes an L3 lab to verify grown in an egg that's incubated for several (3 days?). How then can this be confirmed to be the same just because he came from Mexico on a flight.

This is occurring too fast and consider the number of people in and out of an airport. Have you aver sat and people watched while waiting in a terminal?

I have if this thing has traveled from carriers the infection rate is dramatic and worldwide by now period. Too many interconnecting flights and travelers in and out of hubs etc.

We should be seeing this in every city within a few days. Based upon travel patterns in airports and business.
