That's how I am doing four plants this year.
celebity, roma and cherry.
select small friut producers not a beefmaster or something that will break the vines.
So far so good.

yep, we have 2 tomato plants growing upside down and doing very well too! I have also heard other plants do well that way-such as green peppers but we have not tried anything other than tomato

Question;
Could a person drill 4 holes around the perimeter of the bottom of the bucket and plant 4 plants to a bucket? I wonder, if you kept plenty of fertilize, if it would work?
Any comments would be appreciated.

yes they can, but it does tend to get pretty heavy. this is what i did last year:
you know those reusable grocery bags that you buy for a dollar at the store?

see how the bottom is flat? they need to have that flexible piece of plastic in the bottom to help keep it flat in there. anyway, cut a hole in the bottom of the bag just big enough to fit your seedling. now go get a plastic shopping bag, and cut a very small hole in the bottom to fit the seedling. put the plastic bag inside the reusable one. now put your seedling in the hole, and fill the plastic bag with dirt. viola. the plastic holds the moisture in it so it doesn't evaporate too quickly. if you don't use the plastic bag, you end up watering everyday, or in really dry, windy weather, twice a day

My tomatoes are starting to turn yellow.... we have a lot of rain here- DFW- should I add epsom salt or miracle gro? The soil (container) was already treated with fertlizer.... They have some many flowers on them but now yellow.... what to do?

I like that reuseable bag idea as well. My wife wasn't keen on the idea of 5 gallon buckets hanging from the back of our house, maybe she'll be ok with those. :-D

If you're getting that much rain, it could be leaching the soil of nutrients. Yes, do miracle grow for tomatoes, but follow the potted plant mixture.
I've found that those enhanced potting soils aren't worth a hill of ants.
Wean them from the excess water, gradually.

My neighbor has those upside down growing 'bags' ("as seen on tv!"), she has one with tomatoes and one with green peppers. They did absolutely wonderful last year. She put them out again this year, will be interesting to watch and see if it does well again this year, especially with so many crop issues going on.

A relative gave me some upside down tomatoes, even when warned about what a bad gardener I am, and they are doing very well despite my best efforts to do them in. I used wire to hang them from an old metal children's swingset.
