Did I buy a bunch of diseased tomato plants, or is it the growing mix I bought (not cheap btw)?
I am using Earth boxes, two plants per box. In one box one plant is doing well, the plant next to it is just as tall, but it is beginning to look like a skeleton plant, the stems look healthy but the leaves are small and curled.
What in the world is going on? I am about to throw in the towel on growing tomatoes. What am I doing wrong?

We lost a whole bed to red spider mites before we realized what was going on....the pepper plants in that bed were not affected at all, but the tomatoes were withering and yellow and ematiated....very small webs everywhere.

Thanks Belle, I will take a closer look at the plants tomorrow and see if anything matches the chart.
I cleaned those boxes out with clorox water, rinsed them well, and bought new growing mix. This is sure not the results I was hoping for.

Hopefully, it will be something easy to fix (or, better yet, nothing to worry about).

remember, if you have an infestation of something, lots of times diatomaceous earth is a wonder. non toxic, but cut the little buggers up inside and out and they die

I never knew tomatoes could have so many problems. Last year mine drowned and didn't produce at all, that was the only time I've had a problem. This year since it started out rainy like last year we are planting everything on hills. Seem to be very very happy this time but only time will tell. hope I miss all these other things

Thank you so much for the link! If my tomatoes don't drown from all the rain we've been having, this information will come in handy.

I've had problems with mine in containers too. I used Miracle Gro on them moved to more opened space with sun... I'm getting little leaves at the bottom so maybe they will be okay.... I do think all the rain here (DFW) hurt them...

Our tomatoes have been horrible the last two years. I think too much rain has a lot to do with it. Ours had discolored leaves, and some of the tomatoes were deformed. Somebody at work told me to put epsom salts on them, so I'm going to try that this year. I just started planting ours today.

We are having a lot of rain too. I will try epsom salts and see what happens.
