Well....down on the farm so strange things are going on. The chickens are refusing to eat their scratch and my chocolate chips disappeared in my cookie dough.

I talked with my sis and her chickens in another state are also on the no scratch diet. Anyone else's chickens? The goats aren't to thrilled with their cuisine either but in these parts one doesn't get allot of choices.

That cookie dough was the strangest thing. I dump in a cup of chips and keep scooping out dough onto the cookie sheets thinking to myself, "The chips must have somehow settled to the bottom." Nope! Nada! No chips. They disintegrated into the batter. No, the dough was not warm or hot. What I ended up with was a crispy chocolate cookie. OK, but not what I wanted.

They eat nearly anything. Right now they hardly eat their layer pellets. I use pellets cause they waste the layer scratch too much.
Reason my hens are eating less these days is because I weed and feed them that. I put hay in the nest boxes twice a week and they go thru that to pull and eat the chaff of the hay.
AND, they are getting all the stuff I am throwing out as I'm cleaning out the freezers and restocking. Right now our girls are laying 7-9 eggs everyday and we've got nine girls and one bad tempered rooster.

Hm. No real advice--mine are freeranging during the day, but they do hit the feeder at night before roosting. it takes us a good while to go through a bag of feed, except during really rainy/wet weather, when they don't wanna go ouuuutttt....lol...

Definitely augment their diet with whatever you can send their way. The plate scrapings here, go out to the animals (dogs, birds, whoever will eat it first...lol), so everyone is happy. I get rid of nasty leftovers, and they get stuff added to their diet. :-D
