I just uploaded an album (or tried to!) of our little group of Alpine lady goats......Hubby just cut them some grass and I raked it up for them. It's their favorite snack...... Meet Firebird (red collar) Emma (white blaze face), Stella, Violet, and StarSeign (the other adult, with a green collar, she's a bit shy...)

How precious! I envy you!
I have to admit though - I like the beautiful girl in your signature the best.
God bless,
Em

Mee, too! :-D:-D:-D But she is part of the reason we got the critters...so I know we would have milk for the grandkids if the stuff hit the fan.

I used to have goats --then we moved back closer to the big city
They are so smart and playful - great animals
And their milk is naturally homogenized and closer to human milk than cows
Ours did a great job of clearing the brush on our property - they only ate grass if no brush was available

Ours like brush, too; Hubby will toss trimmings into their pen; wild rose and backberry and locust are some of their favorites. We're careful about the brush, make sure there isn't harmful stuff. But our yard has lotsa clover in it, so the clippings save on hay costs and they like it better.

They look like beautiful healthy girls! Congrats Limner!
The (goat) adventure never grows old. I can't imagine not having any in my life.
Goatlady is right...just part of prepping!
The fun part!

YUP! I am enjoying having them again. We had them in the 80's and doing well with them, had some EXCELLENT champion Redwood Hills bloodlines. Then a drought hit and hay doubled in price (IF you could get it!) and Hubby said I had to choose between my two legged kids and my four legged ones. So out the goats went...but I'm glad they are back.
The adults all got pedicures this weekend and every one got a dose of Ivermectin.....:-D
