Hi all.
Just wondering how everyone is doing on their 2007 prep goals? Anyone else preparing their goals for 2008?
I'm ahead of my goals for ammo and mags.
Ahead for food stock, LTS, shorter term, water and seeds and the like. I over estimated the costs so ended up buying more than anticipated. :)
I'm behind in the power generation side of my goals because the batteries cost more than I anticipated.
I also took some classes: AK class, 2 welding classes, and 2 EMT classes over the past year.
Next year, I'm thinking about another AK class, an Appleseed shoot, and increasing our garden size by double...and increasing our medical supplies..because my wife says they're lite.
I'm going to back off ammo purchases a little...repeat, a little...I really don't need more mags or spare parts...or, dare I say, more rifles.
I also hope to graduate my 7 YO daughter up to an AK, from her Henry .22 lever action....if my wife will let me. :)
So, how's everyone else doing with their goals for 2007?

My ammo and guns have always been good.
I am focusing more on food and water and basic necessities.
Stocking up on pet food too.
I bought 6 month supply of Mountain House food a while back here...a site sponsor.http://www.safecastleroyal.com/main.sc
Getting ready to buy more. Maybe bite the bullet and get a years supply.
Been bugging my family in other states to get prepared but they are not listening. :(

I'm set in most areas except for power generation and more medical knowledge. Water storage is now at 8k gallons, two backup heat supplies, food and seed for at least several years.
Sorry, those are the only cards I'm showing in this hand.

Only three months food and water here, but I've got a river to fish and good country to hunt. This drought has got my well running almost dry. I need divne intervention with that one. That well with a hand pump was my best prep.

I'm going to get a ventless propane stove - it looks like a cast-iron woodstove. We have a Kero-Sun, but the fumes and soot cause problems.
I'm drooling over a house generator at Lowe's......

while a person can put stuff up for shtf, it still bothers me much, of owing on this property, this is my main goal to get the debt load gone, easier said than done :?

Prep goals for 2007. Eat well, buy good clothes and boots, get exercise, improve what I have and sleep well.
Yes :)
Pay off more debt, get more PMs (Both silver and gold), More mags/weapons/ammo (Just in case of another assault weapons ban), More fitness training and more firearms training. More water storage as well. Rotate preps/food/first aid stuff as normal.
In short.. keep doing what I have been doing.

I have acheived my '07 goal perfectly. I have signed the papers on buying this place. It is now mine to do with as I please.
Now my goal for '08 is to get it up and running as self-sufficient as I can. I want a small flock of chickens for the eggs and meat. I want a small 'herd' of goats or a couple of calves and a milk cow. The 'back 40' has already been used as a garden, so all I have to do there is plow and plant. I don't think I can raise enough to feed me year 'round, but I sure can raise enough to cut my grocery bill down to barely nothing.
Does that fit the bill or is it a bit too general?

My 2007 prep goals went up in smoke when we lost our home to fire last spring. I took a long vacation, I guess you'd call it, but am back and ready to get on it. My goals have changed to simply wanting a home and a job so I can get what preps I do have out of storage. Not much time left to accomplish that, but I'm going to try my best.

Sassafras, iknow you, and you will make it. for sure.
remember Cappy, if you get a couple of good milk goats, they will give you good rich milk. and they are easier than a milk cow. but a few calves for meat, is a good idea.
and some good chickens. about 25 or so, will do ya fine. fur sure. and give you plenty of eggs, but you might just want more if your going to be eating them also. a good sow never hurt either.
