Thought someone out there may want to print this out to keep just for future reference. It looks fairly easy to do and the materials are some that are easily obtainable now. :D

Very kewl. I've often wondered about the process but have never attempted it.
I'm curious though, how come 'smoked' meat in the store is ready to eat and this meat is not? I'm going to Google this and study up on it a bit. I would really like to learn how to smoke hams and bacon. It would (I believe) be a good way to preserve meats without refrigeration. I may be wrong in that thinking, but that's my understanding.
Thank you for the link!

You are welcome! I am just starting to learn abou this also. Am hoping to learn enough to do this at home and be good enough at it to not make the family sick and be able to do this before TSHTF. It would be an easier and cheaper alternative to just putting the stuff in the freezer. And we enjoy things such as country smoked hams more so than the regular hams and meats. If you find some good articles, would you mind posting them here for the rest of us to learn along with ya? TIA...

I use my tipi as a smoke house, to smoke the deer and antelope hides that I have brain tanned.

Thank You SheWoff.
I saved a copy on my PC.
Hopefully soon, I'll have a place to build one.

This site has several plans for various farm buildings for food storage and processing--smokehouse (pages 4 and 5), fruit dryer, evaporative cooler, produce cooler, slaughterhouse, etc.

most of these use the grid, which will make them useless, when TSHTF.
