Campbell Soup's Experience with RFID
Monday October 4th, 2004
Household brand name Campbell Soup is one of the many companies affected by Wal-Mart's RFID mandate. Through its process of learning about and working with RFID, Campbell has decided on the "slap and ship" method of affixing RFID tags to its products, a method which it says has allowed flexibility in experimenting with the technology. "We prefer to call it 'tag at ship,' not 'slap and ship,' because it has proven to be a very successful process," said the company's IT director.

In order to get more info about campbells you have to be a member and pay to read on this one...not sure if they are just putting it on the crates for shipping or on each label....

How do you know if you've got any of the damned things?

How do you get rid of/deactivate them if you do?

fruit loop...I have been giving this one serious thought and I am thinking that removing all labels from any soup cans and rebagging pasta,s and any other items and take off the upc code....althou I don,t like China products dollar store items that are worth buying(don,t break next day) might be better then the higher priced stuff..and reasoning behind this is..they may be a dollar because they are not chipped which adds extra expense to an item...

This may be why there are end of line sales...I have noticed that labels on cans are different lately and with those comes a price hike(could they be compensating for the chip)...

I already ziplock my dried products and throw the bags that they come in out..I think I will keep up this practice and take the bar code off of my totes....

also will be removing all the other labels to any canned goods..just need to add whats in them along with a date I already put on the cans

Kelee877,
I don't think you have anything to worry about with the individual can label. I collect the Campbell's soup labels (like the box tops for education) for my DS's school. There is nothing in or attached to the paper label, so I think we can relax there. What I would be concerned about is the box that the cans are delivered to the stores in. Sometimes they cut down the box and put the box with the cans still in it, right on the shelf. If you do like me and buy by the case, you could get one of those nasty labels that way. I'm on my way to check any boxes I may have.
