is it just swollen, or is it painful as well? also, does she have any other symptoms or a fever?
no pain or fever
just swollen
make sure you keep an eye on her, as it can be infection or allergy, but outside of that, it can be caused by a lot of things
if she smokes, that will probably bother it
she could gargle warm saltwater. dissolve 1 tsp. of salt in 8 oz. of water to make the salt water solution. a few times a day
increase the humidity
ibuprofen for inflamation
less talking so as to not irritate it
lots of fluids
most things done are to help relieve the pain. warm teas, soup, pain relievers, etc
it could be from a virus, say from a cold. it that is the case, then it just has to run it's course. like i said though, keep your eye on her as if it is from a bacterial infection, those can get nasty. some people can carry strep with few if any symptoms, but if it goes on without treatment, there can be complications. if she is having trouble breathing though, and is showing other signs of anaphylaxis, get her in asap. i have no idea if she has any allergies, but i am just saying to be aware
