Got my new RCBS Rockchucker reloader. Next up, build the reloading bench, and start crankin out some bullets.
Canned the last of the green beans yesterday, a piddly 7 pints.
And Sam's and I have a love/hate relationship... I love going there, and I hate how much money I always spend. But if you have an Aldi's in the neighborhood, there's a great place to lay in some canned goods on the cheap. Last week they had green beans, corn and a couple others for .37 a can. Bought several cases of each, etc.
ICOEBG Yep they have pasta in a box now. I think they broke up each box into 6 parts so you only have to open a smaller amount if you want.
We can't find a blasted thing now in Sam's!! They moved everything around!
Mentioned it to a clerk and she said all the Sam's just went through that in every store.
I said that it sounds like they are trying to tighten up inventory and she agreed with me.
I didn't drop anything on my toe cyberiot. And I didn't have the strength to say even 'poop' after the 7th trillionth trip to the basement with our buy!
What did I do to prep today?
Hmmm.
Not much other than another 50 lbs of beans and rice.
I forgot the soy sauce however.
BUT I did make an appointment at the local LDS cannery to put away much hard red wheat, milk, onions, and apple slices.
DH has the lumber out back and will be building me (4) more raised beds 4' X 20' - 3 of the 4 will be garlic varieties (German Purple Striped, Elephant Garlic, and Martin's Kitchen Variety) and the remaining planted in Egyptian Walking Onions, Chives, and other varieties deer won't eat (these beds aren't currently fenced like the rest of the garden beds). I'll have them planted by this weekend, just in time.
Deydrated 3# of navy beans and tried a choc. chip cookie recipe using subsitute things from my food store. Like adding bean flour and "cooked" beans instead of butter. Insyead of eggs I used nonflavor gelatin instead of eggs.It was more like cake then cookie, I think I'll omit the bean flour and use the recipe for choc. chip bars. Next is a bean pie :-D
Soon to buy more canned goods, got my last optic sight.
still have to make that "defensive Topical grid map" and route cards!
And no; I can't belive I'm doing this either!
Swung by Honeyville Grains today to take advantage of a sale; I refuse to face TEOTWAWKI without onions. :-D
Anyhow, another customer was talking nervously to the cashier about government and the economy. She started to say, "I just don't know if I want to be . . ."
"That!" she said, pointing at my cart. "Like that!"
And out of the store she raced.
Sheesh!
ROTFLMAO!!! Sorry, Cyberiot... that was FUNNY.
Well... I DO wanna be like "that"- if she meant by "that", well stocked and prepared! It means you'll eat well, you won't have to stand in line at the grocery store hoping they got a new shipment in of flour or oil, and that your kids or family won't be crying in hunger.
Besides, aren't basements supposed to be too crowded to walk through?
