Thanks for posting the MREdepot site. That's the cheapest I've seen for #10 cans of anything!

Nope. The website said the rice will remain good as long as the can seal isn't broken. IIRC, the cans are nitrogen-flushed, and include an oxygen absorber, which should retard oxidation of the oils in the rice.

I've never had a problem with anything I've ordered from www.mredepot.com, but will report to y'all when I start opening the cans.

Right now, I store vacuum-packed jars of brown rice in the freezer; sure would be nice to reclaim that freezer space!

    Made ketchup. Made some money.
But what weapons can you use to dispossess someone who will not accept anything except Holy Scripture interpreted according to his own rules?...Where Lutheranism reigns, learning dies. They seek only two things: good pay and a wife. The gospel offers them the rest — that is, the power of living as they please.

I understand now how Arius and Tertullian and Wickliff were driven into schism by malicious clergy and wicked monks.

Furthered my professional education (new skill makes me more valuable and less likely to get cut as cuts begin).

Ran 3 miles before going to work. Exercise = #1 prep thing you can do.

Took a break from canning , and got out for some fresh air. Went to 2nd hand and antique store looking for a magnifying glass & medium sized scooping type items for my buckets of dry goods. I found a pretty little apron with lace, yeeehaw!

Harvested a bunch of Comfrey, spread it all over my table, on a clean tablecloth. There it will sit overnight before I make up more Comfrey Oil. In addition, cut down my Mammoth Sunflowers for seed harvesting and also to give those Comfrey plants some more light. While out there, planning my next harvesting, I cut some Lemon Verbena, Bee Balm, Anise Hyssop, and Lemon Balm- that is my combo tea for tonight! I will be drying a lot of the aforementioned, too. Made a decision on my root cellar- it will be 10' X 16' and eventually have two rooms. The dirt work should be done by next week. I think we need more supplies for our home defense items...

Hatched another set of quail this week, made a few gallons of marinara sauce & pear sauce. Putting up more salsa this weekend...need to clean out the garden as the first frost is headed this way.
