Now have 50 gallons in military 5 galloners. (I just make up words)

Of course protected it with Pri-G. Never had a problem with stored gas with this.
Even used up some 3 year old gas this way.

Oh, I also fill up the motor home before it's stored so that is another 75 gallons for MH generator use. I also rigged it so I can run the house on this generator.
Timbo, I just talked to Curtis, supervisor of PRI...Product Research International and bought a case of Pri-g, directly from him, for my preps. He said, once the container is opened, it will last up to 3 years, upopened, almost indefinitely. To bring OLD gas back, he said to double the dose. Rosie

Thanks Rosie. I better use up the rest of that one container.
I'll put it in the truck on the next fillup.

Also I'm leaving the new stuff in the basement where it's cooler.
Warning on label to keep it cool, I guess for longer life.

I'm going to have to transplant them to a larger location. They really spread.

I had ordered a bunch of spices that came in to replenish some that were getting low and try some new ones. I had a shelf in the pantry that was full of different spices in bulk, but not so easy to find the one I wanted so I had also ordered and received 3 new spice racks and bottles. I filled up all the new spice bottles and labeled them and then filled up one of those 4' by 2' deep Rubbermaid containers with all the big containers and put them in the cool pantry.

I have 96 different herbs and spices and a bunch of different salts and there are still a few more I want to get. I've been experimenting using different spice blends from the Europe, the ME, and India. Very different flavors! Still trying to come up with a Chai Tea recipe that is perfect.

I ordered a new spice book, and one on flavor combining, and spices/herbs for healing. I didn't have a book on spices, and couldn't pass on the 3 I found because they each highlight something different about spices. Spices are an important prep, whatever staples you have in your pantry can be changed into hundreds of different dishes, if you know how to use spice.
    Mind sharing book titles?

I like Spice House, they're the part of the Penzey family that didn't get the family biz. They have a couple of really nice blends we like.

Aldi's had baby carrots for $.49/lb, so I got 20 lbs to can. Netted 45 pints.
Tomorrow, 50 lbs of venison gets canned.

    Lite,

How did you can the carrots?

I've tried canning carrots twice and both times they came out with this kind of sharp, nasty, acrid taste on them. Aside of that they were fine (texture etc) but they were unpleasant to the point of inedibility. Had to throw them all out.

    Thanks,

Brudderman, I just put em in the jar, ad a 1/2 tsp of salt, add tap water to the right headspace, and can em per the book. Never had any not turn out good yet.

Wonder if there was something in your water?

well, Curtis, manager of PRI Co, told me that, unopened, they'll almost last indefinitely. Opened, a year or so. And buying it directly is MUCH cheaper than buying it elsewhere. I bought a case for $75 delivered. good deal. rosie

tried some of the beef we canned 6 years ago...

cubed and lightly seasoned, in quart size jars.

it was great...seemed like new meat.

    canning works.

Six years old was all the older it was??? You must be a newbie! I'm still working on batches of peaches, pears, meat, soups, salsa, tomatoes, etc., from 2002, can't wait to get to the 2006 stuff.
