Question How do you open a garage door that's frozen shut?

We had lots of rain yesterday and last night. When I tried to open my garage door this afternoon, I found it is frozen shut. Is there anything I can spray along the bottom of the door? I don't want to try too much force for fear of damaging the door.

    Help!!

    Face the fact
    Some things never come together
    Parallel lines running on forever
    And you can't turn back
There is never any starting over
Parallel lines never do cross over

You can spray a mix of water and anti-freeze. I would only use the animal safe stuff propylene glycol. It will take a little bit for it to get all the way under the seal.

You can also us salt water if the temps are above 10f.

    Wood door or metal?
When all else fails, I just ask Ms. Oldschool. She knows........

You can also try a heat gun or a hair dyer.

Do not strain your garage door opener trying to get open. I broke the gears in one once trying to open a frozen door. This was a $200 mistake.

Be careful using salt and other corrosives on that metal door. If you use them and can't get ALL of it off, you won't have a lower section of door in a few months. Metal door -- use a heating device to melt the ice, such as a hair dryer or kerosene torpedo heater. Just be careful using those and watch for overheating......

if you aint in no hurry, i would just put a space heater at the door on the inside of the garage and check it every few hours.. at some point that door will get above freezing..

as was said above, dont put it too close to the door,,ESPECIALLY if its a torpedo heater..
