From the pink slime (whatever that is), to antibiotics, growth hormones, and whatever else they're feeding these animals, we do see an increased risk of various diseases.

More than likely your grandparents raised 'clean' beef. That fact alone would more than likely make a big, big difference in health outcomes.

Exactly! Another instance of Big Gov looking out for our best interest. Not! TPTB are only interested in lining their pockets. Greed, Evil Greed runs Deep.

Believing Big Brother is not good for anyone. The people need to go back to the basics. BTW, that would make us terrorists in their eyes for not walking the .gov line.

World Renown Heart Surgeon Speaks Out On What Really Causes Heart Disease

    PreventDisease.com
    March 1, 2012

We physicians with all our training, knowledge and authority often acquire a rather large ego that tends to make it difficult to admit we are wrong. So, here it is. I freely admit to being wrong. As a heart surgeon with 25 years experience, having performed over 5,000 open-heart surgeries, today is my day to right the wrong with medical and scientific fact.

I trained for many years with other prominent physicians labelled “opinion makers.” Bombarded with scientific literature, continually attending education seminars, we opinion makers insisted heart disease resulted from the simple fact of elevated blood cholesterol.

The only accepted therapy was prescribing medications to lower cholesterol and a diet that severely restricted fat intake. The latter of course we insisted would lower cholesterol and heart disease. Deviations from these recommendations were considered heresy and could quite possibly result in malpractice.

The government said the margarine was good for you and butter was bad, the other day I saw a picture of a plate that had margarine, low fat margarine and butter on it, there were also ants. The ants were all over the butter but none of them would touch the margarine. If the ants won't eat it neither will I. Every time they say natural food, eggs, butter, lard, red meat is bad for you the next study says they they made a mistake and the junk they said was good will actually kill you.

I just switched to using lard after I read the post from the heart specialist and looking at the ingredients on the shortening can it is all soy. Soy is even bad for dogs they can't digest it and it causing breeding problems.

Trust the government studies at our own risk or the government for that matter.
Some people are only alive because there are laws against killing them.

So, what- precisely- is an "early death", anyway?

Small quantities of processed meat such as bacon, sausages or salami can increase the likelihood of dying by a fifth, researchers from Harvard School of Medicine found. Eating steak increases the risk of dying by 12%.
So... if you eat bacon, you've got a 120% risk of dying? Eat steak, you've got a 112% risk of dying.

Funny... it's that first 100% that will kill all of us!

As Bad Hand points out, the moronic "government experts" were shoving "healthy" margarine down everyone's throats for years... every freakin' cardiologist INSISTED their patients MUST avoid butter and "saturated fats" like the plague... and instead had them eating the (now proven to be) dangerously artery clogging margarine and Crisco.

Eggs have gone from the "NEVER EAT THEM" list to "healthy protein". BAH!

My rule of thumb has been simple for years; heck, decades now. If I can't make it in my kitchen or grow it on my farm and gardens, if it requires a laboratory to make... it's NOT FOOD.

Everything else was given to us by God to consume, and moderation is always wise in all facets of our life.

We're all going to die sometime. Once we get past our standard "three score and 10", everything else is gravy. There are an awful lot of people out there in their 80's and 90's who eat red meat frequently, and have all their lives. Apparently, they didn't read the study!

Going back to basics could put a lot of career politicians on the endangered species list.
