Time is running short to resolve the Iranian nuclear standoff through diplomatic means, US President Barack Obama said on Sunday.

Obama reiterated his position on Iran after talks with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the eve of a nuclear security summit in Seoul.

“I believe there is a window of time to solve this diplomatically but that window is closing,” Obama told reporters.

Royal Dutch Shell is struggling to pay off $1 billion that it owes Iran for crude oil because European Union and U.S. financial sanctions now make it almost impossible to process payments, industry sources said.

    ...

"Shell is working hard to figure out a way to pay NIOC," said an industry source, who requested anonymity. "It's very sensitive and very difficult. They want to stay on good terms with Iran, while abiding by sanctions."

As Roni Edry and Michal Tamir's spontaneous Israel Loves Iran initiative continues to reverberate throughout the world, one photo posted on Facebook has caused a stir, sparking curiosity on the web.

The photo posted by Facebook user Daniel Anisfeld depicts a man and a woman kissing, while holding their passports up to the camera. The woman holds an Iranian passport, and an Israeli passport is seen in the man's hand.

    ...

Many comments also noted that should the young woman return to Iran, she may face consequences. Other posters expressed doubts, claiming that the photo was digitally altered.

Talking Syrian forces on offensive, Moscow says peace takes time

Russia offered "full support" for peace envoy Kofi Annan's efforts to end fighting in Syria on Sunday. Moscow also suggested foreign support for the Syrian opposition was the main obstacle to peace while US President Barack Obama and Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan discussed how to get non-lethal aid to the opposition.

32 people, of them 18 civilians, were killed Sunday in fights between Syrian government troops and rebel forces. Opposition organization said defectors shoot missiles on a military base 80 kilometers for Damascus. Arrow Human rights group: Assad's forces use human shields

Human Rights Watch said people were forced to walk in front of advancing troops and that residents reported government forces placing children on tanks and inside security buses.

"The Syrian army's use of human shields is yet another reason why the UN Security Council should refer Syria to the International Criminal Court," said Ole Solvang, a HRW emergencies researcher.

Nearly two-thirds of Jewish Israelis believe that attacking Iran to stop its nuclear program would be less harmful to Israel than living under the shadow of an Iranian nuclear bomb, a new survey shows.

The poll, conducted by Prof. Camil Fuchs for the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, showed that 65 percent of those asked agreed with the claim that the price Israel would have to pay for living with the threat of an Iranian bomb would be greater than the price it would pay for attacking Iran's nuclear facilities. Only 26 percent disagreed with this claim, with nine percent saying they weren't sure.

Israel is prepared to handle this week’s “Global March to Jerusalem,” officials said on Sunday, as organizers plan a multi-pronged rush on the country’s borders to mark the 36th anniversary of Land Day on Friday.

Organizers of the event – known as “GMJ” – say they are planning peaceful marches on the Israeli border in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt, at checkpoints in the West Bank and at entrances to the Gaza Strip
