The loose-consortium-that-is-anonymous has as its primary goal to keep the Internet free. They have conducted well-choreographed cyber-attacks on a variety of Big Guys that did Bad Things. I really don't have a problem with that. And in the case of Saturday's planned attack -- if they're able to pull it off -- they gave us ample warning. They say they don't plan to cripple the Internet permanently, just make it sort of miss a beat.<br />

Does anyone know if simply plugging in the IP address of a web site would bypass this? Most of the survivalist-type forums have been throwing out their IPs lately, and I figure this would be a good time to make sure your list is current.
Using the sites IP should get you here when the DNS goes down.

I did a big write up on the "Deep Web/Darknet/Darkweb/ect" not long ago, I've been myself a number of times.

As for 4chan, I've been as well, it is not completely anonymous. IP's are logged when a post is made, but eventually the IP is tossed with the rest of the data to keep open space, especially on /b/ around every 5 minutes entire pages are tossed by the server.

The sheer amount of data and information posted on /b/ alone would boggle your mind, anything and everything is posted.

However, this of course doesn't mean the IP and postings can't be archived...and they are, often, by both "moot" aka Christopher Poole and other "channers".

Bans do occur on 4chan, but it requires an "Anon" to do something quite egregious to aquire themselves one. (e.a. posting of "Cheese Pizza" aka CP which is Child Pornograpghy", attacking the board itself, preforming actions that damage the image of the board, ect...

If you've ever heard of the "Rules of the Internet", then you've been introduced inadvertently to 4chan.

Also, 4chan is not the only "chan". There exists a number of other chan's and "anon" related sites. However not all chan's are the same.

789chan, 420chan, 99chan, 7chan, 711chan, 888chan, 2chan, Rockstarchan, ect... the list is massive, some revolve solely around pornography, other drugs, and yet others art, tehcnology, electronics, hacking, comics, video games, ect...

*The link below is NSFW, while it does not contain any nude or graphic content, links with the page do*
    http://www.thechanlist.com/

The chan's are a sub-culture of the internet itself, they're not widely known unless you spend a good portion of your time on the internet.

    Now the Deep Web, a whale of a subject in itself;

The Deep Web/Deep Net/Hidden Services/Onionland can be access a few ways, Tor, FreeNet, I2P, ect...

I utilized Tor for my visits, Tor is an anonomyzing proxy service.

The URLs used by Tor are pseudo top-level domain designations are 16-character alpha-semi-numeric hashes generated automatically on a public key when a hidden service is configured. The URLs are not in DNS and are not listed in search engines.

DO NOT for any reason download Tor and try to visit the deepweb.

What the main dangers are when utilizing a program like Tor and accessing the Deepweb is the false sense of security the user has. Tor is indeed an anonymizing proxy, but it only anonymizes your IP and provides access to the hidden services/deepweb/anonymous network.

You're still vulnerable in many ways. It is advised (even says on the Tor website) to use addition proxies/programs in conjunction with Tor and to change your Internet habits.

While perusing the Deepweb and to keep yourself safe on the Clearnet from persons with nefarious motives, Firefox can be configured to help keep your anonymity and add-ons/programs such as Privoxy, HTTPS Everywhere, CookieMonster, RepControl, FoxyProxy, JonDoFox, Ghostry, AdBlocker, NoScript, UserAgentSwitcher, Better Privacy, Flagfox, PrivacyChoice TrackerBlocker, RequestPolicy, ect...

If using Tor do not access your social network accounts, e-mail accounts, forums, ect... it may be against the policy of those communities and services, but also may provide detailed information to someone who is watching.

Most programs and applications also have a near constant connection to the internet, meaning if you're using an anonymizing service like Tor. The data passes over hosted nodes. Both the hostnode and exitnodes can view the data raw, meaning whoever is hosting it can see what you're doing. The majoirty of hosts don't care or the system its hosted on is a nodebot, simply runs for the sole purpose of running a Tor node.

It's one reason why Tor users try to avoid nodes hosted in their country and try to avoid using exitnodes as hostnodes. National Level LE or INTERPOL could be hosting the exitnode.

While Deepweb is credited with having a plethora of CP, gore, ect... it is mainly to provide a buffer from the general public utilizing it in fear of being labeled a pedo or necro-fetishist and it remains a relatively uncensored and ungoverned section of cyberspace that contains much, much more. Unless you're actively seeking out CP or randomly clicking on links you're chances of seeing any is slim.

Tor does provide SOME anonymity, but is not a "Stop All". The hostnode and exitnode can see both your intended location and originating IP. With Tor being open to anyone who knows how to install, the exitnode or hostnode your utilizing could be hosted by a national level law enforcement organization or INTERPOL.

Tor's original "concept" was to allow nations under totalitarian rule (e.a. China, Iran) to bypass filters and blocks imposed by their governments and access the internet unhindered.

Originally Tor was financed by the US Naval Research Laboratory, but the Navy eventually backed away from Tor. It has become common talk that Tor was made by the Naval Labs to give the NSA, CIA, NIS, ect... the ability to pass electronic files securely and anonymously to and from each other and clandestine case officers.

However the Deepweb itself was (is) heavily used by the military and clandestine intel agencies use "gophers" to pass and recieve information.

The Deepweb is home to Drug Dealers, Child Pornography, Illegal Weapons sales, Hitmen, Political Dissedents, Anti-Gov't Groups, Information Stashes, ect...

One website, "buggedplanet" has a deltailed listing of every company world wide that specializes in prodcution of wireless and wired intercept devices/software/hardware and the agencies, orginizations and groups that use said devices/software/hardware.

The Deep Web even has it's own curreny, BitCoins aka BT. It's how everything from informtion to drugs, weapons to webspace is bought and sold in the Deepweb.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoins

It even has it's own chan sites like Anonchan.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

I thought about this too Mom. Hampering the internet would make it hard for the rest of the world to get news other than what the MSM wants to give out.

Thanks, Weps. I was wondering what that was about. No, I'm not going to go poking around in it. I use the internet in G-rated ways that will not raise any eyebrows amongst the watchers.
