Thanks for posting this. The model in the video isn't what I consider plus size to be. She seemed normal to me, but then I'm tall and (ahem) big boned too.

I think they could have used a reporter that might relate to the story better. I gasped when she asked if the clothes were reasonably priced because a bigger person might be more likely to be low-income (para-phrased). And asking the model at the end of the clip if she would be more likely to be out and about with friends in her nice clothes rather than sitting on the couch eating a bag of chips. These might be legitimate questions but it rubbed me wrong.

I think this store has great potential. The first time I took my daughter to Lane Bryant she felt so good coming out with decent clothes. I don't condone being obese but it doesn't help anyone to have nothing but sweats and t-shirts to wear if you are. I agreed with the model at the end that if you feel good in your clothes you are more likely to get out, experience life and do things rather than go into hiding.

    Default I have struggled my

whole life with obesity, and so has my whole family. It's about dang time someone figured out there's a big market (40%+ of the US is obese) they got some decent clothing for people size 12 and UP!

As far as the interviewer goes, just remember: Fat is the only acceptable area of discrimination left.

Roughly 30 percent of Americans are obese," based on their body mass index (BMI), study author Dr. Eric Braverman, president of the nonprofit research group, the Path Foundation in New York City, told HealthDay. "But when you use other methods, closer to 60 percent are obese. We call BMI the 'baloney mass index.'"

There IS NO argument. Contrary to popular belief if I feel pretty and better about myself because my clothes fit properly, instead of my clothes trying to wear me, I'm more apt to take better care of myself, work out, etc.

One of the things that has totally baffled me in the past ten years is the media's outright attack of obese people and YET there are NO WORKOUT Clothes for fat people!!! I've never understood this, at all!

I've been watching mike and mollie on CBS this past year just to see what they were putting her in each week, and some of the clothes are downright pretty and the best part is JCPenney is carrying some of the designs, though they don't advertise this. I found a couple of the tops and sweaters at my local Penney's store and since they were on clearance they price was right!

We no longer have a Lane Bryant locally, have to drive to Des Moines for that now, so don't know if the other clothes they are putting mollie in are available at LB or Fashion Bug or not, I haven't seen them in the higher end department stores and doubt we ever will.

It's all about overcoming media brainwashing. A woman has a right to have age appropriate, pretty clothing that fit no matter what her shape or size. On the other side of the coin, women who were less than 5'5" had a terrible time finding adult-looking clothing. Many shopped in juniors and looked like an overgrown 14 y.o.

That's gotten better, as well as the problems of finding nice-looking outfits for the full-figured, but there's still a long ways to go.

And not only has it been hard to find workout clothes but also bathing suits!

Water aerobics is a good starting point for many and doesn't stress the joints nearly as much as land exercises.

Ain't that the truth, good luck finding one that doesn't cost a fortune as well!

Oh and while we're on the topic how about boots that fit properly, even when I weighed 128 I had above average calves due to having a muscular build.

Years ago (like over two decades) I went to Lane Bryants because I needed a leotard for my belly dancing class. The clerk (a tiny thing) looked at me (who was only a size 1x not a 4x or anything) and said,

"I don't think they make items of clothing like that in YOUR size.."

Pre-internet, I went home and looked through some catalogs and found one that specialized in all/nearly all cotton clothing. I called, the women who owned it who was also about 4'8" and weighed about 150 pounds. She had two 1X petite leotards come in and she sent me one and kept the other for herself.

I have not tried shopping at a Layne Bryant's since, but they then also tended to not be my style which is more folksy and less tailored.

It's amazing how she can judge. One day her figure may not be perfect and she will see what her words did to others. Wonder where her selfestem will be.
