    Default Warmest March on Record

Here is the state by state analysis. 118 indicates that the state experienced its warmest March on record; 117 indicates that there was just one prior March (in the past 118 years) that was warmer.

"According to preliminary data, there were 15,272 warm temperature records broken (7,755 daytime records, 7,517 nighttime records). Hundreds of locations across the country broke their all-time March records. There were 21 instances of the nighttime temperatures being as warm, or warmer, than the existing record daytime temperature for a given date."

    Talking nope

Portland and western oregon and washington had the COLDEST AND WETTEST MARCH ON HISTORICAL RECORD. This includes the coldest high temperature on record 39 degree farenheit in late march. We also nearly doubled the average march rainfall. Last march was also the fifth wettest march on historical weather record going back to the early 1890's.

Portland has not cracked 70 degrees since either September and October of 2011. Further, we have only reached 60 degrees in the last two weeks or so.

As usual Portland has temperatures from Halloween to Easter of no higher than 60 and usually no lower than 30, with lots and lots and lots and lots of rain, grey skies etc. Actually, highs in the high 40's are more normal.

So no heat wave in the Pacific Northwest. east of the cascades is a different story but west as usual has plenty of water. Doomer Doug is mildewed. he he he

If Idaho was above normal, then why did it snow so much? We got hammered.

Agreed! If we were to claim that it was cooler than ormal here the greenie would be telling us that that's because the pioneers didn't have proper temperature measuring devices that ONLY the gov't can be trusted.

Maybe he'd be happiest hugging a tree elsewere since the USDA, his beloved gov't stated, last year that the plains states was moving back into it's NORMAL dry state! That's right the last 40 years is the ABNORMAL for temps and moisture NOT the NORM!!!

Warm, warm weather in Michigan. Most had never seen a winter like this one. I only took the snowblower to my driveway TWICE. Still had the original two gallons of gas I bought in November to tackle the job. Ended up using it on the LAWN MOWER almost a month ahead of normal!

It's hard to complain about warm weather in the midst of what should be cold weather, but it was certainly out of the ordinary. Not quite a record breaking warm stretch--the most warm days was back in like 1920 or the like--but still, disturbing, amazing stuff.

Warmer air can hold more moisture that can lead to greater snowfall... to a point obviously. Cold air tends to be drier.

I should point out that some of the events being put forth (Sun activity, jet stream location, etc) do explain the higher than normal temps, but not necessarily the record temperatures.

It was certainly the most consistently mild North Eastern Ohioan winter in my memory. Only shoveled once. This is not usual.

    ROFLMAO!

Now check the temps in eastern Europe.
