I wonder if Rhodie has read it. He's from down that way.
Post a little review of the book when you get done, if you have time. I'd be interested.

    I remember,,,,,,
The farmers had the backing of the goverment for help in their protection,,,
As the UK and the UN led by Henry K. came down hard with harder sanctions farming became the most precious of industries, hence also a target for the marxist terrorist.
There will be no such help in the states,,,, stepping stones,,thats what it was all about. The U.S. was always the main target.
And now we have our very own,,,,Centrist goverment,,led by you know who.

I remember,,,,,,,,,no one here will give a crapp.

A good read now, as it was then.
    May God help us ,,,,again.

The number one food producing nation in Africa now produces nothing under a different name.
"I'm OK if they want to limit citizens, but don't tie the hands of law enforcement," said Craft, who said he used to employ drones as part of a narcotics task force in Harris County, which includes Houston.

    minimalist,
Rhodesia was the Bread basket of Southern Africa,
Zimbabwe is no the basket case of Southern Africa.

They do produce some products, with 90% of the Profits going to the ruling party members.

One thing they do produce is misery for the common man.

Worth reading Grower, and for anyone else who wants some idea of what is going on with our SW Border (just the beginning) and what might happen.
It is an easy 3 to 4 hour read.

It brought back a lot of good/ and sad memories of places I had been to, patrolled and help fight for. (And will never see again.)

The truth about how a communist or socialist system always fails those it is supposedly meant to help is well told.
How the thug in chief, becomes just that.

The role of honor was hard for me, as I knew several of the farmers killed.
The Turners were mother and sister to one of my LT's Gavin Turner.
Both killed by a land mine and ambush while on one of their farm roads. (The local PATU tracked the Terrs for 3 days before losing the spoor.)

Life was hard for the farmers but as many said, it was still worth living, and fighting for.

Would I do it all again, YES with no hesitation.
If it happens here, you can count on me, no doubts at all.
And I truly fear that it will to.
As it says in my sig line

I have some friends who left Zimbabwe. They left with hardly anything but their two young girls. They started over in Canada and said it was the best decision they'd ever made.

They also made me a billionaire--I'm worth $150 BILLION!!! Unfortunately in Zim dollars.

The thing that most interested me was what was the point that got them to leave. They were third generation and it was the only home they knew.

They said that once some relatives came to visit and they took them to the movie theater. Their girls were sitting closer to the front and the guest commented on how their little "blondies" stuck out.

They had never really thought about it before because that's how it had always been. Yeah things were getting worse day by day. But like a frog in a warming kettle, they had just adapted.

They started to make arrangements to leave shortly after.

They've gone back to visit an Aunt. They said it's amazing how bad it gets every time they go back. The aunt is down to living with candles most of the time because of the sporatic electricity where she lives.

Yes it was really hard to know when it was time to take the Gap.

Not, When Bob took over, you could clearly see the small changes being made.
Him placing this man in that position and so on.
Little rules being made for bigger ones to come.

I was the unit Adjutant and reported an incident about some of The ZANLA party officials rolling their car, 5 AK's were in the boot (trunk) that popped open.

A Sgt in the RLI and myself rushed to their aide, quickly followed by 5 Black policeman.
After the victims were taken away to the Hospital, the Police Sgt secured the weapons.

The Next day I reported this to a Friend in Army Intel, two weeks later I got called in and was told to change my report.
I refused, and then came to find out that the RLI Sgt and the 5 Policeman had all reported the same story.
But later they recanted theirs, (under pressure, to not rock the boat)
I was smart enough to see what was coming, covering it up was not in my play book.
So I told other close friends, and they agreed that it was only going to get worse.

So I sold most of my stuff, including my guns to farmers. And my wife and I left for South Africa.
We lived there for another 2 years, saw that the Political leaders there, weren't.
We shipped over a few boxes (barely enough to fill a Pick Up truck bed) to the US and started over.

We truly feel for those who thought they could weather the storm, but in life you takes your chances.

Will it happen here? I don't know!
But things are getting worse, we have no real leaders, and a divider as President.
With other evil actors pulling a lot of strings, very few of them for anything good.

As it has been said "All that it takes for Evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing."

Yeah, sometimes it's hard to know exactly when to cut bait and leave.

I'm always curious to read stories about the Jews and others from WWII. What was the deciding factor that told them to leave?

If you were a Jew in Germany, anytime after Hitler was elected would have been a good time to leave. But most people just go on with their lives even as things got worse and worse.

By the time the masses wake up, it's usually too late.
