I guess to some people chains don't matter as long as they have the right letter on them. Frankly I don't want to be in chains.

I had severe Fibromyalgia. I know its not the same as neuropathy, but hear me out. For 2 years I had so much pain that I would cry at night. I just wanted to have a pain free day. I was tired and worn down by the pain.
    I tried 2MD's, 2Chiropractors, and a naturopath. Nothing.

I found relief with an acupuncturist. I have been pain free for 6 months now. Please look into acupuncture.(It doesnt hurt.) It is amazing. It is hard to think outside of the western medicine box. Take the first step.

    Dewar's.
    I'm not joking.
Quiets the legs every single time. A good friend of mine taught me that trick and my Neurologist (who I just saw this morning) is fascinated by the notion.
The problem is dosage: side effects can include raging a-hole....
Deep tissue massage helps too, as does my Stim machine, but they're all only a temporary fix.

Default this is a clasic case of ...........

are we treating symptoms or the actual problem that's causing

    the problem ??????

IMHO , I highly recommend seeking the advice of a trained physician ,

and a naturopath . Then ,,doing your home work in the herb books .

Some natural remedies are only topical and only treat the symptoms

temporarily . However , if you can get an accurate diagnosis , treat

the bugger , then treat your symptoms ; you won't have to do it all

over again and again as your sys heals .

    Just some thoughts..........

cabbage polltuce , mustard polltuce , on top over buttered skin does work ,

    and there are others.....

This is interesting on a couple of levels. The obvious one and first thing that came to my mind was that a fair percentage of neuropathy cases are CAUSED by drinking too much alcohol. #2, it just so happens that when I was a social drinker [before getting married 25 years ago] Dewar's was my drink of choice [with ice and a splash of water].

I don't know the cause of my neuropathy; the diagnosis is ideopathic [means "they don't know why"]. I was diagnosed nearly thirteen years before I became a Type II diabetic. For most of the twenty one years since the neuropathy kicked in I've used various prescription meds [tegretol, neurontin, elavil - you name it], which did nothing but make me sleep a lot and put on weight. From 2000-2010 I took darvocet three times a day, skirting the limit of acetaminophen considered safe for one's liver. Darvocet managed my pain perfectly for ten years. In the fall of 2010, the FDA recalled darvocet and took it off the market and ever since I've had some rough patches. I suddenly stopped having pain last September. Unfortunately it came back in February. I too am looking for something that works but our medical bills are already outrageous.

I guess I should look into the acupuncture. I'm assuming that's covered by BC/BS after all these years and am hoping that the treatment is covered by the cost of the office visit, even the fee for a specialist would be affordable. Any information about the insurance and out of pocket cost for acupuncture treatment would be appreciated.

You can find "Butcher's Broom" at your local health food store. Works great and no side effects.

I don't know if this will work, but look into Tai Chi. Try googling Taoist Tai Chi.

A fairly difficult problem that tends to stay with you.

Home remedies? As someone already mentioned, be careful to distinguish between treating symptoms and the actual condition. My only suggestion would be a network chiropractor (NOT the neck snappers). A good one might be able to figure out where the problem is originating from and perhaps release whatever is causing the problem.

    Feel better and good luck!

Neuropathy tends to be related to blood sugar levels.
