Default A sign of the new dark ages?

As the Roman Empire collapsed and the Dark Ages shadowed European civilization, petty thieves and common citizens began scavenging many of the empire's buildings and monuments, using the stone and marble to build their hovels and walls to protect their gardens and livestock. Is that any different from what we see today as people strip the infrastructure for metal and materials to use or sell?

Thieves stole 70,000 pounds of copper cable from Sound Transit's Link light rail line between Tukwila and Sea-Tac Airport, the agency reported Friday.

Thieves ripped the wire from inside an elevated guideway that supports the tracks, probably over the last several months. From end-to-end, about four miles of cable was stolen, Sound Transit spokesman Bruce Gray said.

The link itself is kind of disconcerting to me. I know a man named Bill Hicks!

the biggest and most important sign began decades ago when the state began subsidizing bastardry. if you want more of something, subsidize it.

consequently, we have a society/civilization where responsible fathers are in danger of extinction, replaced by the State. and the prisons are full. and morality has disappeared. corruption is everywhere.

great Plan America. you are doomed.

Hubby's cousin's hubby owns a pipe manufacturing company. He is having a problem with hijackers on the highway. And, they are getting more brazen.

Other than George Carlin, nobody spoke truth to power more so than Bill Hicks. He was a great comedian, even though the laughter was pretty uncomfortable for his audience. He said a lot of things that made powerful people uncomfortable as well.

Caesar once boasted that a naked virgin could walk the length of the Roman Empire on Roman roads and be safe, that a pouch full of Roman coins could lay in the road all day and no one would steal it.

These days even a truckload of pipe isn't safe.

No difference. It already seems a lot like the Dark Ages and it will just keep getting worse.

I have a couple of Uncles and several cousins who are long haul drivers. They are always armed and there are parts of some cities they will not go to. They do not have shotgun riders yet.

Some months ago I read about the theft of a few miles of railroad track, and also looked at a video showing a gang of three people steal the barriers that are placed in a parking lot.
