Default Northern Minn. Boy Gets 27-Point Buck

A northern Minnesota boy bagged a 27-point buck while hunting near Sebeka.

Twelve-year-old Dylan Beach Bittner of Motley shot the buck while hunting with his stepfather on his aunt's farm.

The deer weighed 229 pounds and took four men to load in the back of their truck.

The deer's antlers measure 241 inches. If the measurements hold up, it would be one of the top 10 biggest deer ever shot in Minnesota.

    Wow! That's a dream-come-true for a 12-year-old hunter!

That's a dream-come-true for MOST hunters, regardless of age! I hope he gets the best cut of meat from it!

Not sure if this is a blessing when all said and done. The odds of topping that deer are basically nill. A deer of that caliber should be a trophy to someone who hunts hard and dilligently. Not just pure luck....presumming his stepfather didn't put him on it. And if he did, he should be examined...jealous, you bet. But I have a wall of 140-165 deer over a twenty year hunting career. I'm glad they took the time and work they took. It makes me appreciate what a trophy deer really is. He is likely to be spoiled or even quit when he realizes that he got the deer of a lifetime at 12, on what appears to be pure luck. (luck is highly instrumental in tagging trophy's, but nothing that skill can't make up for.
