Default Anyone know online source for Epi-pen?

Anyone know where you can buy epi-pens without a script?
    Or, maybe even with one?

DS has a coworker whose wife is deathly allergic to seafood. They wanted to have a couple epi-pens to keep around, just in case (sounds wise to me)

The cost WITH insurance was quoted at $250 EACH. This guy doesn't make that kind of money (although I'll admit if it were my hubby and I couldn't find any alternative, I'd spend it and make sure I had a way to keep him alive in case of a reaction!)

ADC doesn't carry epinephrine. Anyone have any other ideas?

I'll move this in a bit to the appropriate room, but wanted a little exposure here first.

I bought a small bottle of epinephrine along with all my needles and syringes at Jeffers Livestock supplies. Very reasonable!

WHEN did you do that? Epinephrine has been Rx for several years now. I have to get it directly from our vet.

But while *I* would do that without hesitation (and, in fact, I always keep an appropriately sized needle and syringe rubber banded to a bottle of epi in the fridge, because hubby has had a bad reaction to a honeybee sting before) these folks apparently couldn't handle that... they NEED the "foolproof" pen syringe.

I'm still unable to get over the sheer idiocy of charging $250 for a freakin' epi-pen!!

I don't know if you can get them online,or without a script, but I had a prescription for the Epi-pens refilled last June. (I'm allergic to Bees) I think I paid 125.00 dollars for 2 of them.

That 225.00 each, that your aquantance was quoted sure sounds unreasonable to me. I don't remember exactly what I paid, but am pretty sure that it was around the 125.00 for 2 pens, mark... but I know it was no where near that price that your friend was quoted. I would have fainted if that's what they would have charged me..

Tell them to call around to other pharmacies in the area. Like Wallgreens, Wall-Mart, of Sam's club. My pharmacy didn't have any in stock at the time, but ordered them for me. They should have no problem getting a doc to write a prescription for them. They may not even have to go into the doctor's office, and the doc. may do it for them over the phone.

I got mine from one of the Amazon vendors; don't remember which one. No Rx needed, iirc. Ran me about $25, iirc.

Summerthyme, Where you have livestock, surely you have a vet who will write you a scrip since "everyone knows the need to have epinephrine on hand at the farm". Heck, my vet knows that I know how and when to use meds and rather than make a 1 am emergency farm visit, has issued many prescription meds to my care.

alpha.. yes. Although our vet doesn't write prescriptions- he will sell us what we need, but he refused to get involved in the DEA record keeping crap he would be required to do if he wrote scripts. (he's one of us... doesn't trust the .guv as far as he can throw them. He's tossed more than one USDA or FDA rep off his property because they didn't have a warrant for information on one of his clients that they were demanding...

But this isn't for us! It's for an average American sheeple who would consider filling a syringe and sticking a needle into their leg "too hard"... that's a DOCTOR'S rerogative, you know!

Epi USED TO BE OTC... they took that away a few years ago, and it's DUMB, because if you are using vaccines or antibiotics, you NEED to have it on hand. And a bottle does not go very far if you ever get a bad batch of vaccine (30 cc's will barely treat three cows!) I am SO sick of the nanny state baloney protecting "us".. well- the morons among us- from themselves.

Someone at TB2k gave me this link :https://www.northwestpharmacy.com/pr....aspx?s=epipen

However, it's a Canadian pharmacy. I'm not sure if they're selling to the US anymore or not. (they may be- the say they're "America's Canadian International pharmacy" and it looks like they source from several countries. Dunno...
