A Lesbian Couple Walks into a Muslim Bakery...

There is a story on TheBlaze about a refusal by Christian owners of a Portland, Oregon bakery to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple. The article states:
In February, Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, an Oregon-based bakery, found themselves at the center of a media firestorm after refusing to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple's ceremony. Nearly four months later, the small business continues to receive threatening and harassing phone calls and e-mails, as they grapple with the ongoing fall-out from their controversial decision...
From claims that Aaron should be shot to one apparent threat that he be raped, the hate and angst being thrown the Klein family's way is certainly serious in nature. Some have even wished for the couple's five children to be stricken with illness.
There was also was what appears to be an improperly filed complaint with the Oregon Dept. of Justice which, for now, has not advanced through the legal system.

After reading this, I recalled a photo I saw as a child of an Arab bakery on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. In a cursory search of the internet, I found a halal market just west of Portland in Beaverton, but no specific bakery listed.

One might ask whether this lesbian couple have gone to the halal market to order meat for their wedding party and inquire about getting that wedding cake with two bride figures on top.

Still, the question exists for other gays across the U.S., angry at this Christian-owned bakery practicing its First Amendment rights: why haven't other gays and lesbians wanting a wedding cake walked into Muslim-owned bakeries and attempted to place an order? Why are all the big, brave activists who find it easy to send the Kleins in Oregon insulting and menacing e-mails all of a sudden "champions of religious freedom and diversity" when it comes to Muslim-owned bakeries across the country? The obvious answer is that such a request would lead to an argument, if not a physical confrontation.

One has to conclude that this couple -- and one of the bride's mothers -- are practicing selective outrage against Christians. Would they go to a Vedic Hindu or Kosher caterer and insist that they prepare a roast pork dinner for the wedding? That question can be answered in two parts. First, there have been no attempts to arrange such a porcine meal reported in the media concerning this now-newsworthy lesbian couple -- and I doubt if there will be such an attempt in the near future. Second, an attempt to ride roughshod over non-Christian religious businesses' practices may well be attempted in the future if the State of Oregon gets away with fining or closing the Kleins' bakery.

The only logical conclusion we can come to is that the lesbians planning their wedding thought that all mainstream bakeries should be required to accommodate their religious preferences (and holding a lesbian wedding is definitely a statement of religious preferences) because the couple believe, as their president (Obama) has famously said, that America is no longer a Christian nation, as this YouTube video shows. The couple probably consider forcing a Christian bakery to do their bidding to also be a non-material benefit from Obama's (famous) stash.

So what type of nation are we now, supposedly? One wonders if the Federal Reserve will soon issue dollar bills with the words "In Obama We Trust" written on them. Better not to give the administration any ideas.
