    Default Homemade soups?

Hi there. How do you make good homemade soups?

I like chicken noodle and tomato basil. There was one that imitated a taco that I tried once but I don't recall the name. It had chicken.

    Thanks.

Well, my favorite throw together soup starts with the seasoning packet from a pkg of chicken ramen, but with 6 cups of water. Add in copius amounts of chopped cabbage, onion, garlic, cooked or canned chicken, rice or potato chunks or white beans or egg noodles or other noodles as suits you, and whatever left over veggies or 1/2 used bags of frozen veggies you have.

I've even added evaporated milk to one that had a lot of potatoes to make it more potato soup like.

Really, the only essentials are the ramen seasoning and cabbage. In fact, I'll add cabbage to all my broth based soups. It just adds that extra something, you know?

This is a frugal favorite here at my house. Instead of using pricey cheese for the base, you add it to the top where it gets all melty- but it still LOOKS like cheese soup (and it's a lot more nutritious, too.)
