i'm not understanding, tony. are you saying that people do it? i know they do, but i don't think it is officially condoned or promoted. did i miss something in there? i am not positive about it, that is why i said i think that they don't. do they promote it or condone it?

(i am looking at what the "official" catholic church and leadership of that church says, not what a certain group, or individual church does, just to clarify)

If so, I guess I'm going to wherever memorized prayer sayer's go.
Funny thing about Christians that look down on memorized prayer -- they never seem to have a problem with memorizing Scripture or memorizing worship songs or hymns. Some Evangelicals that criticize liturgy as being "rote" or "ritualistic" seem to enjoy the trance-like state induced by some of their highly repetitious worship songs. And I speak as an Evangelical myself. I think we all need judge our own religious practices and discover for ourselves what brings us closer to God.

What? Simpleman's 'making a list' of what he considers bad (or in my case, 'filthy') people? Must have no life. Must live in mom's basement. Is he checking his list twice? Is it just a naughty list or is there a nice list too?

as you know I grew up Roman Catholic in New York City and I still have the scares on my knees from being made to kneel on serrated tin kneeling pads as a kid while saying my Hail Maries.

I understand that many parishes in the United States don't follow the same ordinates just as the some Protestants don’t follow the same doctrines.
