NEW YORK – A dying former civil rights lawyer convicted in a terrorism case but released early from prison has arrived in New York City.
Lynne Stewart's attorney says she landed Wednesday afternoon at LaGuardia Airport, where she was greeted by supporters and relatives.
The 74-year-old Stewart was released from Federal Medical Center Carswell in Fort Worth, Texas, on Tuesday. A judge ordered her release after prosecutors and the Federal Bureau of Prisons recommended she be set free because she has less than 18 months to live. She suffers from recurrent Stage 4 breast cancer.
Stewart was convicted of helping a blind Egyptian sheik communicate with his followers from prison. She had been imprisoned since 2009 and had said she didn't want to die in "a strange and loveless place."
Prosecutors say she'll live with her son in Brooklyn
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.

You haven't noticed? Every new "outrage" posted lately claims "it starts".

In my belief, she was. The government was trying to send a chilling message to anyone who might not believe their side of the story and to lawyers everywhere who might take a stand against those the government labels as "terrorists".

While the blind sheikh is pretty much clearly in the "blow up America" camp, now that we have seen how the government is willing to expand the label of terrorist to ANYONE who disagrees with them, then perhaps we should rethink our support of these things.

I am VERY familiar w/this case, I listened to the tapes and watched the
surveillance vids nearly 20 years ago, her actions were easily identified by a novice, the woman is not the brightest bulb

I'm reminded of how Obama got the Lockerby Bomber released back to Libya because he had "cancer" which was a total Sham and lie
