Well, they have to get raw materials from somewhere. Since the US has promoted the benefits of a global economic/trade systems - isn't it talking out of both sides of their mouth - to say: oops! you can't buy that material from that country?
Especially, when the number of other options are scarcer than hen's teeth?
Granted: I've seen Chinese components and their design/finished product is obviously lower quality. I believe they use a shorter "planned obsolescence" cycle. Are the Chinese "raw materials" that much inferior, when you don't produce any domestically?
