If that's true I think we know the outcome. I could see the Soviets doing that to rattle sabres but not the Russians for they have to function in a system where money matters.

I would explain things to you but....I'm all out of crayons and puppets.

    Hey,

They should follow the lead of the big dog on the block, us. Write dirty letters to each other and threaten sanctions. They will be shaking in their boots, in no time.

This should be the best evidence ever of the uselessness of nukes. There is good old N Korea, watching a tanker burn on the other side of the earth, armed to the teeth with nukes and not being able to do a damn thing about it. I wonder if they are thinking now "Geeze, maybe we should have built a navy?".

We went in and got Libya's gold reserve, so yes, we do own them, but can not about their people.

Well any weapon is useless if you don't have an effective means to deliver it. :) I didn't say they were "Modern", just not "Medieval".
Only the sword now carries any weight in the balance for the destiny of a nation.

The question we should be asking… Does #Putin stop in #Crimea? Or does he move to take eastern #Ukraine? http://on.msnbc.com/1oHa1M2 @maddow

Bush’s escorting destroyers and cruisers, together packing hundreds of long-range missiles, are presumably nearby. Nuclear attack submarines usually also accompany American flattops on deployment.
Commissioned five years ago, the 1,100-foot-long Bush is America’s newest aircraft carrier. Her Mediterranean deployment is “designed to strengthen maritime security,” according to the U.S. 6th Fleet.https://medium.com/war-is-boring/d6deeed6601c
An especially ominous development coupled with the deployment of the Truxton and countered by the reports of mass Red Army troops, perhaps 200K plus and the Soviet cruiser Moskva on the move.

Strictly my opinion: Putin may be trying to box in US naval assets in the Black Sea to minimize outside opposition to his ground forces in Ukraine.

Taking it one step further, a major sea battle could be in the cards.

You're right of course, it's just that "medieval" is such a great word when you want to be fast and quippy. Busted on that one.
