The U.S. is not a third world country.
Which is why it's deliberately being smothered with third world people.
Y'all catch the blither Biden was spewing in Detroit today?

A large number of homeless are mentally challenged, or choose to live the lifestyle. Those who can't work the system need help navigating the system - I will freely grant that. Those who choose the life as is, well, OK then.

Food stamps are available depending on income. At less than $2.00/day, the people in the article qualify.

    "Eligibility

Because SNAP is a mandatory, or entitlement, program, the federal government is required to fund the benefits of all eligible participants. There are income and resource requirements for SNAP, as well as specific requirements for immigrants, elderly persons and persons with disabilities.[16]

    Income requirements

For income, individuals and households may qualify for benefits if they earn a gross monthly income that is 130% (or less) of the federal poverty level for a specific household size. For example: the SNAP-eligible gross monthly income is $1,245 or less for an individual. For a household of 4, the SNAP eligible gross monthly income is $2,552 or less. Your gross monthly income is the amount you make each month before any deductions, i.e. taxes, insurance, pensions, etc.[16]"

Certainly an individual making less than $60.00/month (those the article targets) qualifies for food stamps or SNAP.
Someone making less than $60/month would not meet the work requirements in some states and wouldn't receive food stamps. It varies among the states. Some states don't have the work requirements. In the states that do, a person without children has to attend a work shop 30 hours a week if he/she cannot find employment whether he/she has transportation to get to the work shop or not in order to receive food stamps.

There are many homeless people who do not have family or friends to help them get off the streets. It isn't a choice for everyone. And someone stuck in such circumstances is bound to develop emotional problems from it.

Someone with children that falls on bad times can get food stamps, WIC if children are young enough, housing assistance (if credit is good enough, which it often isn't if they've fallen on bad times), and Medicaid. Someone without children is going to have a hard time getting by without help in same circumstances of job loss or illness.

If it's not then it will be. It's definitely not a first world country.

Exactly. It's being seen in "small-town America" now. I see it.....The influx of "invaders" from elsewhere, compared to the Amish and Menonite communities here. It won't work out well. :(

    Exactly.
Technically, the U.S. is currently a Second World country.
You know who to thank for that.
Once all the illegals here get to vote Democrat that's when we become a Third World country.
So wait for it. . .
