Their cost structure is rising, just as it is with everybody. The wage rate is only part of the problem.

That was an act of desperation. She is likely starving and/or has starving kids.

Just as likely, she is in a country that has received tons of aid that never made it past their leaders' hands. Their leaders live in luxury while the people starve.
