Jerusalem synagogue massacre, 4 killed

November 18, 2014 - Two Muslim terrorists attack Jerusalem synagogue worshipers with large knives and gun, 8 wounded, terrorists killed. Two police were among the wounded. The terrorists were killed following a gunfight. The attackers were Palestinians from East Jerusalem.

Israeli Arabs, terrorist cousins Uday and Rassan Abu Jamal - one of whom worked in store meters from the massacre site. One of the terrorists worked next door to the synagogue at a grocery store in the Jewish neighborhood.

Four killed, others hurt in terror attack at Jerusalem synagogue

At least four people were killed Tuesday morning in a terror attack at a synagogue in Jerusalem.

Magen David Adom confirmed that eight other people were reported wounded, including four in serious condition, two in moderate condition and two who sustained light wounds.

Two police officers were among the wounded.

"We are viewing this as a terrorist attack," police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

Identities released of four victims in Jerusalem synagogue attack

The names of the four victims of the terror attack at a synagogue in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Har Nof were released on Tuesday.

Rabbi Aryeh Kopinsky, 43, from Har Nof and Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Goldberg, 58, and rabbi Calman Levine also from the neighborhood were identified along with Rabbi Moshe Twersky, 59, as victims murdered by two Palestinian terrorists.

“In a reporting gaffe, CNN superimposed their preliminary coverage of the terror attack with the headline: ‘Deadly attack on Jerusalem mosque.'” Isn’t it funny how all these mainstream media “gaffes” all go in one direction. You will never ever see an attack on a mosque labeled as an attack on a synagogue.

From mistaking the Har Nof synagogue where Tuesday’s terror attack took place for a mosque, to deleting references to Palestinian perpetrators, some of the international media continued to report on the events in Israel in an eyebrow-raising manner on Tuesday.
The website of British newspaper The Guardian ran a story about the attack from Reuters. The wire dispatch the agency sent included the headline ‘Palestinians kill four in Jerusalem synagogue attack’ and led with the sentence: ”Two Palestinians armed with a meat cleaver and a gun killed four people in a Jerusalem synagogue on Tuesday before being shot dead by police….”
However The Guardian changed their headline to “Four worshipers killed in attack on Jerusalem synagogue” and in their lead, they also excised any reference to Palestinians, publishing: “Two men armed with axes, knives and a pistol have killed four Israelis and wounded several others in a Jerusalem synagogue …”
In another questionable slant on its coverage, CBC headline their report on the attack with: “Jerusalem police fatally shoot 2 after apparent synagogue attack.”
In a reporting gaffe, CNN superimposed their preliminary coverage of the terror attack with the headline: “Deadly attack on Jerusalem mosque.”

There is no excuse for the CNN error, and it clearly reveals their bias. But the change of wording on the newspaper report is understandable. I imagine the editor asked the reporter, "Did the police say they were Palestinians?" And when the reporter said, "No, they have not identified the perpetrators yet," the editor ordered the correction, pending further information from the authorities.

JERUSALEM, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that Israel will "respond with a heavy hand" to a deadly attack at a Jerusalem synagogue earlier in the morning.
Netanyahu said the attack, which left four Israelis killed and eight wounded, was a "direct result" of "incitement" led by Hamas and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
The Palestinian leadership condemned the attack, saying "the presidency condemns the attack on Jewish worshippers in their place of prayer and condemns the killing of civilians no matter who is doing it," according to a statement issued on Abbas' behalf.
However, a Hamas spokesperson hailed the attack as a "quick response" to the death of a Palestinian bus driver on Sunday night, Israel's Channel 2 news reported. Though the Israeli police concluded that the death of Yusuf Hassan al-Ramouni, who was found hanged in a bus, was an apparent suicide, Palestinians charged that he was killed by Jewish extremists.
Two Palestinian assailants, armed with a gun and a butcher knife, stormed a Jerusalem synagogue during the morning prayers, police said, adding that the attackers were shot dead by the police.
Palestinian media identified the assailants as 27-year-old Rassan Abu al-Jamal and 22-year-old Uday Abu al-Jamal, two cousins from the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Jabal Mukaber.
Israeli security forces later raided the homes of suspects' families, and arrested several family members "on suspicion of assisting the terrorists," a police spokesperson said in a statement.
A Palestinian left-wing group, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), said on Tuesday that two of its members were responsible for the deadly attack, and that "the attack was a natural response to the Israeli attacks on Jerusalem and on the Palestinians."
The raid triggered clashes between stone-throwing Palestinians and Israeli policemen, who used tear gas and reportedly sponge- tipped bullet to disperse the youths.
