San Francisco Begins Registering Illegal Aliens To Vote

    Oh, that’ll go over well.
    Via Daily Wire:
The Department of Elections in San Francisco on Monday issued voter registration for illegal aliens to allow them to vote for members of the city’s Board of Education in the Nov. 6 election.
Becoming California’s first city to allow non-American citizens to vote in local elections, Supervisor Norman Yee said, “We want to give immigrants the right to vote.”
[For the record, “immigrants” are people who come to America through the legal process, while “illegal aliens” sneak into the country.]
In order to vote, the illegal aliens must live in the city, be at least 18 years old and be the “parents, legal guardians or caregivers of children under the age of 19 who also reside in San Francisco,” ABC-7 reported.

Feds Reveal Suspected Serial Rapist In California Is Illegal Alien

Sanctuary state, except there’s no sanctuary for the victims.
    Via Daily Wire:
Federal officials revealed on Tuesday that a suspected serial rapist in Northern California that posed as a ride-share driver is an illegal alien.
Orlando Vilchez Lazo, 36, is a Peruvian national and is illegally in the United States, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Fox News reports:
Vilchez Lazo has been dubbed the “ride-share rapist,” because he would allegedly drive his car around clubs in the city and pose as a driver. The New York Times, citing authorities, reported that he even had a sticker on his car to indicate he was working for a company.

FPC Releases New Data on California DOJ “Bullet-Button Assault Weapon” Registration “Debacle”

SACRAMENTO, CA (July 18, 201 — Advocacy group Firearms Policy Coalition announced today new findings about the California Department of Justice (DOJ) “Bullet-Button Assault Weapons” registration system based on data it acquired from DOJ. The information can be viewed or downloaded on their Web site at https://www.firearmspolicy.org/calif...ey-facts-stats.
    FAST FACTS
DOJ had approved 6,213 individuals to register 12,519 firearms as “assault weapons” as of June 30, 2018
DOJ processed 12,168 applications for firearm registration between Jan. 5, 2018, and June 30, 2018
DOJ still had 52,443 applications for firearm registration pending as of June 30
Based on DOJ’s rate of their application processing between January and May 2018, it would take DOJ another 2.15 years to finish processing the remaining “assault weapon” applications
The “assault weapon” registration system was originally estimated to cost $55,770 – 429 man-hours billed at $130.00 per hour – but over $113,370 was spent on programming alone
$119,970 in fees had been collected from gun owners through May 30, 2018
DOJ received funding to hire “24 analysts and two managers” to process “bullet-button assault weapon” registration applications, but those are “limited term positions that will cease to exist one year after these employees’ start dates”
In 2016, when Governor Brown signed into law the two “bullet-button assault weapon” ban bills SB 880 and AB 1135, the statutory deadline was set at January 1, 2018. But, after a series of blunders and delays, DOJ requested that the deadline be extended to give them more time to open up the registration system. The Legislature responded by passing an amendment to the laws in 2017’s AB 103, a “budget trailer” bill, which changed the deadline to June 30, 2018. But DOJ was unable to get their problem-riddled system online until August 2017.
In a declaration filed by lawyers for Attorney General Xavier Becerra in January, Special Agent Supervisor for the Bureau of Firearms, Blake Graham, said that “DOJ spent six months designing and testing the electronic registration system required by law.” But, according to Graham, the “programmers who created this system for DOJ” were moved off the registration system and working on other DOJ projects by January of this year.
Rather than setting up a functional, stand-alone registration system that could handle the expected volume of applications, the DOJ instead opted to build a burdensome, highly-complicated system within another DOJ Web application platform already under development, called the California Firearms Application Reporting System (CFARS).
DOJ issued a change order to the $1.49 Million CFARS contract to contractor Celer Systems, Inc., of Folsom for the additional work to create and integrate the “bullet-button assault weapon” registration application into CFARS. But the registration system, which was experiencing problems even in 2017, crashed completely for many gun owners during the last week of the registration period.
As of June 30, DOJ still had 52,443 pending applications to register firearms as “assault weapons,” which FPC estimated might take DOJ another 2.15 years to go through based on their rate of application processing between January and June. According to Deputy Attorney General Robert Wilson, a lawyer for the DOJ’s Bureau of Firearms, an application that is being processed is not considered to be registered. The applications’ “pending” status leaves thousands of gun owners in legal limbo, in addition to those that were prevented from registering altogether.
“Some say that the United States Marines are who you call when something ‘absolutely, positively has to be destroyed overnight’,” said FPC President Brandon Combs. “Apparently, Attorney General Becerra and his DOJ are who you call when you absolutely, positively need to waste hundreds of thousands of dollars on something that will fail when it matters most.”
Last week, FPC joined three other advocacy groups and individual gun owners in filing a new civil rights lawsuit challenging the DOJ’s failed “assault weapon” registration system, which prevented gun owners from complying with the laws before the July 1 deadline. Information about that case can be found at https://www.firearmspolicy.org/sharp.
The groups have another active lawsuit over the “assault weapon” regulations, Holt v. Becerra, in Riverside County Superior Court.
Firearms Policy Coalition (www.firearmspolicy.org) is a 501(c)4 grassroots nonprofit organization. FPC’s mission is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, especially the fundamental, individual Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms

Next On The California Banned List: Contact Lenses

    Who doesn’t see this happening?
    Via Axios:
Billions of contact lenses get flushed down the drain every year in the U.S., and researchers from Arizona State University have discovered it takes more than a week for the lenses to even begin to disintegrate, according to research detailed in Scientific American.
Why it matters: Given that most lenses would not spend much longer than a week in a waste facility, the researchers estimate that as much as 50,000 pounds of lenses end up in sewage and up to about 28,000 pounds of that ends up in the dirt, where it could possibly carry contaminants.
The big picture: Contact lenses are still a relatively small problem, especially when looking at the eight million metric tons of plastic pollution that ends up in the oceans every year, according to SciAm. However, experts are increasingly focused on microplastics as a particularly ubiquitous and harmful part of the global plastics pollution problem.
Be smart: The complicating factor comes with contact lenses’ absorption capabilities.
“I would be concerned that there would be more of an impact with these microplastics than with the other materials,” Sherri Mason, a professor of chemistry at the State University of New York at Fredonia, told SciAm, “because of their ability to absorb various toxins in the environment, like pesticides and herbicides, and really hyper-concentrate these chemicals and move them into the food chain and up the food chain.”

San Fran Spending $185,000 On Every Member Of Its ‘Poop Patrol’

    What a crappy job.
    Via Daily Wire:
San Francisco may be suffering from an overwhelming “poop problem” but at least a few enterprising residents are making cash off the city’s forgiving policies on public elimination.
According to a recent report in the San Francisco Chronicle, the city has hired a team of five people (and one supervisor) whose only job is to patrol San Fran’s streets and sidewalks looking for — and cleaning up — human waste. But applications for the “crap job” weren’t exactly pouring in, so the city made being a member of its “poop patrol” worth workers’ whiles, offering up to $185,000 in salary and benefits to every member of its human waste task force.
The Chronicle reports that city has already instituted “the new $830,977-a-year Poop Patrol to actively hunt down and clean up human waste,” and then adds, casually, in parentheses, the real cost of the job. “By the way, the poop patrolers earn $71,760 a year, which swells to $184,678 with mandated benefits.”

California Moonbats Call For Boycott Of In-N-Out Burger After Donation To GOP

Did they miss the bible verses on the cups and wrappers?
    Via The Hill:
The California Democratic Party chairman is calling for a boycott of In-N-Out Burger after it was revealed this week that the fast food chain donated $25,000 to the California Republican Party.
“Et tu In-N-Out?” Eric Bauman tweeted.
“Tens of thousands of dollars donated to the California Republican Party… it’s time to #BoycottInNOut — let Trump and his cronies support these creeps… perhaps animal style!”
His call for boycotting the restaurant came after a public filing showed that it had donated funds to the California Republican Party.
Journalist Gabe Schneider first reported on the filing, which quickly led to the hashtag #boycottInNOut. Los Angeles Magazine also reported details about the filing.
