    Well, it isn't as if it would be hard to obtain, since it is endemic in large parts of Asia.

    That said, working with a tropical bacterium in Louisiana isn't the greatest choice. North Dakota would offer a lot less potential for spread in a lab escape. It ought to be pretty happy in Louisiana.
